Are Airguns legal to hunt small & large game in North Carolina?

My sister had an opportunity through work to move to North Carolina, it's somethings she's always wanted, also bittersweet since she'll obviously be leaving her family in Pennsylvania.. However, I saw this as another state to hunt in with free room & board 😁 I was just curious if any one from North Carolina knows for sure. I perused the Game Digest but couldn't find anything that stated you "couldn't" and nothing also saying you "could".

Either way I'll still be trying my luck in NC at some point, but I'll be slightly more motivated if I can use a air rifle😊

Hopefully we do have some NC airgun hunters here. But no matter what DO contact whomever is in charge of hunting regulations personally, and, do ask for law #'s and print them out.

Johns) "small game" is/was legal, squirrel & rabbit and most varmits.

In NC there are a lot of airgun hunting allowed. GTA has a chart that shows species, and state by state rules for each. In general NC is a very friendly hunting- shooting state. Their enforcement presence is always on going whether hunting or fishing. They manage their natural resources pretty well. A search NC DNR should give additional info.

Hi
North Carolina in not real AG hunting friendly state. You can hunt a few thing but laws need to be changed here. If you go to Crosman website they have a chart (though hard to read)(State-by-State Hunting Chart) that will tell you what you can hunt. I called Wildlife and they said basically no hunting of anything worth hunting with AG, I live in Carteret county. At the wildlife site they have the seasons listed for what game. I would call to verify but this is what I found out this year.

Thank you for this site.

Yes smokey, you can hunt here in NC with airguns. I have not read the latest hunting rules but for at least the last 5 years when I called officer he stated wherever it said rifle an air rifle could be used. And yes it left no caliber limits for deer as specified by other states. I'm waiting so I can take Turkey with my .30 cals like Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia.
