AOA-SHIPPING COSTS

I'm looking for a Super Sear for my Air Force Talon and found what looked like what I needed at AOA. When placing an order , they wanted $23.50 for shipping a 4 ounce part! That's just plain outrageous, so I cancelled my order. Has anyone else noticed this with AOA , or they trying to rob Just me?

If anybody has a good alternative to AOA's Super Sear please drop me a message. Thanks.

Ya know, I've paid what I considered to be outrageous shipping costs for small parts before. And then, I've got free shipping for large things that save me a lot of money...all from the same retailer. So, to me, it all balances out, and if I really want or need the small item, I go ahead, order it, and I figure that in the long run, it all balances out, but mostly, the scale tips in MY favor.

I don't understand why none of the large retailers offer the USPS flat rate boxes for heavy items like pellets, or any items for that matter. Even with the pellets wrapped securely, I bet they could fit 25 or more tins of pellets in the medium sized flat rate boxes, which I believe are between $8-$9 to ship and they're Priority so they should arrive in 2-3 days vs. 6-10 days. . It would be a much better option than $15 for ground and it would be faster and cheaper!

Actually the retail rate for a medium flat rate box is 14.35$. Some commercial accounts can get a slightly better price. I don't mean to nitpick, just a friendly FYI. You are right it would be faster though.

I hope that helps. :)

I just came from the AoA site. I selected 1 tin of pellets, cost $15.95. Shipping minimum $17.80. That's one of the 2 reasons I don't shop for pellets there. The other is I think it's a bit of a gamble to have a tin of pellets shipped clear across the country and arrive in excepttable condition. PA,1 tin of pellets $18.99.Shipping $7.99. AirGun Depot, the same as PA.

Hey U--- Exactly my point. Why not use a flat rate envelope, small or medium box and get it in two days?

STO- I was off a few bucks on the medium size, I just guessed the price. That still proves my point exactly, you can fit a huge amount of tins in a medium flat rate box for $14 or still quite a few in the small box. I've seen them like RBAZ mentioned, almost round because there was so much stuff jammed in there. Carefully packaged though, you can still fit probably 12-20 tins of pellets in a medium box, or 5-7 tins in a small box delivered in 2 days for $14 or $8 respectively.

I've had similar experiences with various sellers of different products. On a few occasions, I have shopped around and found a less expensive shipping cost, and then called or emailed the other seller to let them know I did not buy from them because of the shipping cost difference. It probably did no good, but I figure business operators need to know why they lose a sale. Maybe they have not shopped around enough for shipping alternatives. In some cases, sellers add on to shipping to pad their profit. Guess they figure the listed price will encourage the sale, and the buyer will just assume shipping costs are the same everywhere. If you notice, "shipping cost" is not usually defined as due to a third party, so it pays to shop around.

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but it takes time to package stuff and label, someone is definitely getting paid to do it at AOA and it’s probably figured into their shipping costs. Time is money. 💰

Wait - you mean the $5 that AOA will "gross" from that $15.99 tin of pellets will not cover the employee's time opening that on-line order up on the computer, taking it from the shelf, packaging it, labeling it, and taking it to the PO? If it doesn't cover that, then what covers his/her health care, paid vacation, etc?

Gotta wonder how many guys on AGN work for free..........
