AoA Extreme Benchrest

Help a rookie. This year will be my first time at this event...well, any air gun event for that matter. I have a few questions. 1. Are there limitations on what kind of bench rest can be used? Is a Caldwell Lead Sled permissible? 2. Will AoA be providing air for sale? 3. Will range time be made available to get sighted in before the event? 4. Someone want to give me a hint with .30 cal weight? 44.75 or 50.15 best for the bench rest competition? Thinking heavy for wind but...dunno. Any other advise? I'm driving down from Colorado and should be there the evening of the 5th.

1 - Check the rules page on the EBR page. You could also call AoA to ask about something like that.
2 - Maybe you could tip someone but, the air is FREE. :)
3 - Yes, there are sight in times scheduled throughout the event and you can also shoot the heck out of your sighters during competition. Always make sure you're shooting your own target and not someone else's. Here's my thread about EBR, I typed the schedule here and it's also on the EBR page. And, bring enough ammo! AoA is closed during the event so, you're on your own if you run out.
4 - It depends on what your gun likes better and what your more comfortable shooting with. The winds can be crazy down there so, be prepared to deal with that.

Lots of helpful tips in my thread from myself and others who have been there.

Dannyshoots,

I am also from Colorado, and I am very much a rookie. This will be my first time as well. I'm sure that I will get educated for the next time.
I'm driving, so I am bringing my own air tank.I prefer the smell of compressed air from my own home state.
I have tried both the JSB 44.75 and the 50.15 pellets in my FX Boss, and the 44.75 pellets were grouping better in both windy and calm conditions. I met the owner of FX, and he recommended the 44.75 pellets.
Good luck,
Hopefully us guys from Colorado will get a chance to meet.

Scott

Scott,

I got in 4 tins of the 44.75 grain JSBs this week. Went to that new indoor range up in Loveland yesterday and they grouped very nicely at 75 yards. My Impact put in a pretty nice performance as well. Don't know if its appropriate to put in a plug here, but if you get a chance to check it out, you owe it to yourself to visit the Liberty Firearms Institute in Loveland. I've never seen a shooting facility like it.

I'll be leaving Littleton next Wednesday morning as early as possible with the hope of getting a chance to check out AoA before they close up shop. Looking forward to meeting you and Tominco. Safe travels and see you there.

This is so much fun. I can't believe how well scheduled and organized it is. The speed silhouette is such a rush. My hands are still shaking from the adrenaline. The field course was really cool. I hope I do better on my second round of the 75 yard bench rest. I shoot 25 meter at 7am tomorrow. They have a bonus challenge on the 75 yard bench rest event. One shot chance, closest to the middle of the pellet logo. That's the best shot I made all day. Wish I knew how to post pics from my phone.

Scott, you and I were pretty much in the same boat! When I got to EBR, I wasn't even sure my Boss didn't have severe barrel/receiver alignment issues! I just bought it a few weeks ago and barely had time to get it on paper. It was grouping nice but not where I was aiming. Finally got it dialed in at Rio Salado though. My education came with the wind. Its all over but the crying now. I will be back. You can bet I am going to learn wind during the next year though. Oh, and I shall return to the Field Target range better prepared next year as well!

All in all, I had a great time and met some wonderful people. Can't wait til next year!
