Anyone using Beyond GoPro 7?

Hi folks. Wanted some advise. Planning to upgrade my current scope cam set up. I’ve been using the Sideshot phone mount. And want to now upgrade to the action camera set up. Before I start adding stuff to the shopping list wanted to check in with you guys. 


1. Has anyone tried any go pro cam beyond the 7? I know the 8,9 didn’t get the lens required for scope cam shooting. Anyone tired with the 10 yet ? Wanted to be sure that the 8/9/10 don’t work for scope cam before I plonk money on the 7. If I do get the 7, I’ll go with the 1.18 lens and the eagle vision set up.


2. Any way to use an Insta cam as a scope cam ? Is there a kit I can buy. I have the insta cam with the 4K Leica lens. And the 360 as well. But don’t know if I can use this. Has anyone tried this ?

Before you buy, do a complete research on what you are interested in. Asking is not enough. Just buying the 7 and the lens is not enough. There is still a fair amount of tuning and leg work to make everything work. 

As for the instacam try rigging and mounting it on your sideshot and see if is even close to compatible. 

The other choice is the orion cam setup. Less expensive and a better mirror from what i have researched. I am thinking of converting my sidescope system to his system just because of that.

Haven’t researched the Orion yet. Will do. Thanks for the tip. . I have Been researching the GoPro for some time. The go pro 7 seems to be the better option because it offers lens changing capabilities. Am hoping someone’s figured out a workaround to using the GoPro 8,9,10 which have more advanced features. But haven’t found any one online yet who has tried this. The Insta is a similar story. My Last and hopeful option is the knowledge that resides in this forum. 😄. Else GoPro 7 with the 1/18 lens is the one.

I have two GoPro 9 cameras and haven’t found a work around yet. I’ve been trying since last Christmas although not really that seriously. I have talked to Orion about making something on quite a few occasions but he just suggests getting the Firefly camera and his kit. Having two GoPro 9 cameras and a Tactacam, I don’t want to drop anymore money on another camera. I don’t think I’ll film much anyway. Good luck. If you do find any information on using the 8, 9 or 10, please let us know.

Thanks Stoti. I think I’ll write to go pro and ask them why they haven’t come up with a super lens that can be used in a scope cam. There are enough shooters in the world 😬
