Anyone used 8.25mm lens on gopro7?

I think the side shot guys used 12mm on their backbone gopro7. But at $1250 that is out of my budget range. I was only able to find the 8.25mm lens that will fit onto the stock gopro7 without backbone version. Without a zoom lens, we all know you only get a small screen when recording video. My question is, is 8.25mm zoom in enough to see the view? Anyone have used a 8.25mm lens on their gopro, can you post some videos on 1080p 240fps? I want to see the quality vs the backbone 12mm version.

Hi

You can watch my clip to see the quality. As you see there's blur at the end around of circle and i don't know how to fix it to get clear picture of entire.

Anyone who have Backbone with 12mm len, please post some video to compare the quality and do you have same blur at the end around of circle like mine ? Thank so much

I obviously use the 8.25mm myself and I too see the slight distortion around the edges and it is my thought that the distortion is from the 8.25mm lens itself. Because there are so few replacement lens manufacturers, the choices are limited.

Peau Productions 8.25mm f/3.0 41d HFOV 16MP

BackBone System H7PRO – MODIFIED HERO7 BLACK (Does not come with the proper lens, only stock lens)

Eagle Vision Customised GOPRO 5-6-7 lens 12MP M12 12MM

In my opinion, the Backbone option is really designed for the guy that wants to use larger lenses. In order to use the Hero sized lenses, you screw an adaptor on the BackBone which essentially puts you right back where you started by threading in a GoPro compatible lens which you can do without the backbone conversion.

The guys at Eaglevision actually had theirs made because they were not able to find what they wanted on the market.

This post is not intended to be the end-all as it relates to lens availability, it is my addition to the collective from my experiences and may not necessarily capture what is currently available on the market.

** SPOILER ALERT **
I recently received the new Eaglevision lens and will be sharing a video soon of its performance along with all of the other current scope cam options ;)

Listed Alphabetically

Eaglevision Cam GOPRO 5,6,7 Side-Cam kit
Hajimoto's Scope cam assembly (only for comparision)
Phone Skope (Gopro Hero 5,6 or 7 version)
RusBears Scope Cam (EKEN camera)
SideShot For Gopro Hero 5,6 or 7
TactaCam FTS 5.0 System (Proprietary camera)

As you can imagine this will be a large video production and will take some time to pull together but its in the works ;)

Hi Hajimoto

It is coincidence, let me tell you my story in this hobby.

A few year ago I bought Eaglevision with Casio ZR1100, but we had to watch on screen of camera to shoot, it was hard to get a good shoot if we not put our gun on a vise for stable. I forgot this hobby until i've watch a video from Matt about Rusbear scopecam. I sent an order to get it (version 2), but not satisfied about the quality of it. Then I order a Eaglevision Cam GOPRO 5,6,7 Side-Cam kit with len 12MP M12 12mm, the quality is better now but I can only use it with my cheap scope because the universal scope holder only allow you to connect any scopes from a outer scope diameter between 40mm-46.5mm. My S&B outer scope diameter bigger than 47mm that why i have to buy Sideshot scope cam with 8.25mm len to record but until now i still not satisfied about the quality of video because there is blur at the end around of circle. That why i need to get info about backbone cam with 12mm len to find a key to improve quality of shooting video. That my sad story about this hobby.

After seen your post, i knew the key of the problem is the quality of lens. I'm waiting for your next video about new lens from EagleVision. I hope that will fix my problem

and one more thing, i got a chance to use TactaCam FTS 5.0 System, but to me the quality of prism is not good as EagleVision and Sideshot scopecam. I hope my conclusion is wrong after watching your video about it.

Sorry all for my English, it's not my first language. That is the best i can be expressed
