Anyone use the Air-Chrony MK3 ?

Air chrony is the best. I have had the mk2 for months and just bought the MK3 and also the barrel mounted version of the MK3 labled MK1

The only bad thing is the mk2 (don't know about the MK3 yet) does not show decimals unless you hook it Up to a computer.

If I remember correctly you can switch between units in mk3 wich is awesome. I'm a metric guy but I like FPS for velocity.

Have not recieved the Mk3 versions yet. I ordered the barrel mounted One from their website because I really like barrel mounted ones, these things are so small that if you angle your Gun you can get false readings because the flight path is no longer straight through but in a diagonal. So you need to Keep everything straight. The standard mk3 I bought used yesterday because it popped up att a nice price and I was thinking of putting the MK2 out and at the same time use the barrel mounted One to calculate My BC at various ranges. If the MK2 is hit and busted I have the mk3 as backup. (I did bust the screen in my mk2 by putting a pellet in it once, but I bought a new screen and replaced it myself)

Hello Erik

With luck this reply to a 2-1/2 year old thread will get to you.

I'd like to learn more about the Air-Chrony; accuracy, reliability, features; and am especially interested in the Mk 1 (barrel mount version)

Are you still using Air Chrony?

Hope to hear from you

Edward

The MK3 seems to be the official chronograph used by the World Hunter Field Target Organisation to check the power of the competitors' rifles: https://www.whfto.com/

Review on fieldtarget.cz (Czech Republic field target website): https://www.fieldtarget.cz/en/clanky/ostatni/466-airchrony-mk3.html

One comment seen on mundilar.net : Having the display above the unit is a problem because it's hard (if not impossible) to see through your scope if you shoot for groups when testing velocity : https://www.mundilar.net/en/air-gun-targets/air-chrony-mk3-ballistic-chronograph.html

AoA sells the Air-Chrony MK3 . I'd think that it tells something...

I strongly considered the MK1 barrel mount unit.

It appeared to me that with iron sights there would be a view to the target through the unit.

Never thought about a scope however.

I finally opted for the FX Radar for it's wireless capabilities & the promise of future upgrades; and also because I found a fella with a DIY barrel mount for it.

He was willing to make a one-off for me.

That said

Please do not consider this an attempt to induce you to go with an FX.

Just reporting what I know so that you have the info for comparison

I am just beginning to use it

It seems accurate and consistent;; and has missed only 2 shots in about 200;

The good news is the upgrades are happening so that the data data recording now includes

Shot count, Average, Hi, Low, Spread, Std Dev, & the ability to clear the previous (last) shot.

Today's upgrade also includes a different way (I think) of saving shot strings that I've not yet tried.

Hope this helps in your decision

The chrony mk3 is functional plagiarism of another product the Chrono R2. Functions and part of internal circuit was taken from Chrono-R2.

Let ask Mr Air Chrony - how they do test and calibration at high speed and his a wide application ( "Air Chrony MK3 .... for air guns and air pistols, including airsoft, paintball, rook rifles, bow, crossbow, nerf guns, etc." ).

https://www.amazon.com/AIR-CHRONY-Chronograph-Accessories-Significant/dp/B075736S1V

At higher speed, accuracy is low or the device can not be able operating
