Anyone try the EDgun Bat Suppressor?

I have one on order as well. I am curious what people’s goals are with the Bat.

Personally, I can work through getting the mod centered/aligned for accuracy, but am hopeful that the Bat allows me to remove the mod for cleaning and eliminates the anxiety of having to tweak the alignment for accuracy. I am completely aware of this being an uncommon occurrence, but I know I can influence POI and group size through alignment on mine. I intend to install on my R5M .177. For the record, my .177 is the most versatile and enjoyable airgun I have handled. For me if it reduces report that will be a bonus. I did install the .25 insert on my .177 and accuracy was on point. With the short insert I did notice some increase in the report... but not too much.

Ill install on both of mine and report to the forum as well.

For me, The Bat supressor reduced the sound about 5-6 decibels when measured at a distance of 9 yards with my Lelya 2.0. I think that's pretty darn good. The Lelya is set around 850 fps with the JSB 25.4's. I recently got my Lelya from Brian at Edgun West and am very happy with the gun and his service.

This test was unscientific, and I just used my iPhone Decibel X app to measure. Initially, I measured with my iPhone about a foot from the muzzle. It sounded different with The Bat, but decibel's didn't really change from the stock moderator. As mentioned previously, with The Bat, the mechanical noise was now louder than the shot. I think I read that Ed had mentioned that the true test for loudness should be measured at about 25-30 meters away. So, I moved my iphone to the table on my deck that was 9 yards away, and tested five shots with stock moderator and the The Bat. This is where I got the nice 5-6 decibel reduction with The Bat.

However, I'm not not using The Bat right now, because the Lelya is already backyard friendly enough for me. Later that day, my wife came out on our deck while I was shooting. I asked her how loud she thought the gun was. She it was not too loud at all. In fact, she mentioned that the hummingbird at our feeder didn't even move when I was shooting. She and the feeder were both about 9 yards away. So, I guess my Lelya 2.0 with stock moderator is 'backyard' and also 'hummingbird' friendly :).

You Lelya owners will like the BAT. It involves unscrewing the OEM cap, pulling the baffles out, unscrew the shroud cover, screw the BAT shroud into the OEM threads, push in the baffles (that only go in one way so you can't mess it up,} screw on the OEM shroud cap, and you are done.

It extends the Lelya by an inch or so, but the difference, to my old ears was dramatic. The loudest noise on my Lelya now is the hammer slap, and a "ping", which I'm going to address in a different post.

Kindly 'Ol Uncle Hoot

I noticed that when I shoot wile im sitting on my covered back porch that both my Lelya and Leshiy seem quite loud. But when I go wander around the yard its a different story. I would still like to get a bat though for the Lelya.

BATs will be back in about 10 days for you guys who have ordered them. Ed has forgotten more about airgun silencers than most people even know. I have been trying to convince him to make them for a while. True story I once had an old R2.5 with an inch and a half screw on moderator that would compete with the longest silencers on the market today. Ed thinks you guys want the shortest gun possible, if you want add-ons ask him. Trust me he knows how to strip air.

I’m telling you guys... it’s crazy quiet. As many of you know, I shoot low power... so any silencer kind of has diminishing returns. The gun sounded broken at 600 FPS in 34gr, So I went full gas on the Leyla and R5M with it on some backyard bullies to really test. I was floored. I brought the leyla down from 880’ish to 700fps shooting 34gr and shoot it all day every day. Crazy backyard friendly, and that’s what 38 or so FPE. Nothing in my backyard needs more than that. It’s wasted energy really... straight passthroughs. I shoot the Leshiy at around 15-20fpe depending on cal, and with that Alkua moderator it’s my go to day time shooter, but the leyla gets into the rotation all the time now during the day because it’s so quiet. I have a video with the raw video/audio of the bat on IG if you want to check it out... no way to upload it here natively.

whomever got the last Bat... you’re welcome... I sacrificed so someone could have 1 vs me have 2 😜

I have the original baffle system (the $120 version) on my Lelya 2.0 in .177 and it works great but it does add a significant amount of length which is very noticeable on a bullpup.

So that’s the question, how does the Bat’s performance compare to the above?

I consider the leyla 2.0 OEM setup pretty quiet as is. Clearly if you run any gun hot... especially a shorter one, it's gonna start to bark, but that's a whole other tuning topic of what's really needed in a backyard (i.e. I think pushing pellets 850 + is silly and not needed, but that's a whole other topic). performance wise, it's significant, and IMO far out weighs the added length. It's of the same quality of the rest of the gun, and is extremely light. I feel zero difference shooting it offhand, although it's clearly heavier as it's bigger. This isn't like adding a huge moderator weight wise though.

Thanks Tim for posting the pics for comparison. I'm trying to recall where I saw a video on the BAT Suppressor. It might have been one of your videos where you talk about the BAT. Prior to watching that video, I came across the BAT on Edgun West and didn't give it much thought thinking it was another offset design which looks weird IMO.

I got the BAT for my R5M .25cal just for kicks to try out even though the OEM suppressor/shroud on my R5M works perfectly fine. Another reason I got the BAT is that eventually, I'll be picking up a Lelya in .25 to play with. Just thinking ahead.

I agree on that offset... no bueno for my taste. I think I had it on a video within the channel, but I for sure had it posted on Instagram.
