Anyone know if STX barrels will fit in FX Royale?

Good question Glem. It would be a great upgrade later to get the chance to possibly shoot slugs or even heavies more accurately. Most 500's shoot really great anyway with the pellet options we have now but I'm seeing more interest in shooting higher BC slugs. Ernest would be a good guy to visit with on what the chances are of a retrofit. The 700mm would be awesome.

Yeah to be honest I'm VERY happy with how it shoots with both kings and heavies (at 860+), but in the future I would love the option of a 700mm slug barrel. So from what I read they have already or are making retro-fit STX barrels for the Impact. So if an Impact barrel fits a Royale then it should be possible from what I gather.

Took some measurements

Really?

how did you get that job done?

i have also an Bobcat mk2, I would be interested in an .25 stx barrel.

Sounds like he didn't have too much trouble, using a model that comes with a .30 option like the Bobcat, Boss and seemingly Streamline sounds like you basically just need to heat and remove the brass barrel inlet, put on your Bobcat one and turn the barrel down a bit so it fits into the action. You would probably need the pellet probe and some other parts to chamber .25 pellets when your Bobcat came shooting .30's. Should all be available from FXUSA.

That said, I don't think it will work with the Royale as it never came in .30. This means the barrel steps down from 14 to 12 to finally 10mm, which wouldn't be a big deal if the barrel sleeve (STX) was solid, but it being more of a sleeve I don't think it has the thickness to be cut down so much. (for my purposes)

The STX system that CHUCK had then Jking had is making its way up to me, so I'll know forsure if it's possible. If not I'll hold onto it until I get something it works with. Much appreciated CHUCK and Jking!

Hi guys, I'm afraid that this will not work. There is no room to acommodate the liner, as it is almost the same diameter as the brass barrel inlet/TP piece of a Royale. (9mm X liner diameter vs 10mm Royale barrel part.) Too little "meat" to work with the standard parts.

One way to overcome this issue is to thread the liner directly with M9x1 thread, and use a standard Royale barrel inlet. (Also M9x1 thread)

Then still a sleeve has to be made to support the rest of the liner, and to attach the outer barrel.

It can be done, but swapping liners will be over then, as you are gonna use the liner as a regular barrel, and also a lot of work is involved to make it work.

For the Boss and .30 cal Bobcat it can be made to work with the stock X barrel system.

Cheers,

Gijs
