Anyone have any experience with “bora” moderators?

Looks great, and is of modest price....a tube with some baffles...threaded for a particular application should not cost in excess of what this man is offering..

Donnyfl and the likes...well....100-150$ for a tube and core that is no different than a few areas sectioned by washers is downright robbery...and its so normalized that people don't even blink about it.

I'll keep custom making my own for 20$ or less per unit while having a literal blast doing it...

Completely agree. The guys making money are the guys making suppressors. Even more so in the firearms world!

Yep. There was a guy on here, I won't name names...that tried to get by the forums rules by inconspicuously soliciting sales for his, way over priced, backed by zero science while trying to retain a facade that appears as it is, moderator design...on his own blog he speaks about how he was just giving them away, but that was impractical so he had to associate a cost to continue providing them...and that cost? 100$+...lmfao...

You are free to do or build whatever you want, but calling Donny a thief is out of line, if people don’t like his prices look somewhere else, there is not need to call him that!

Excuse me...I didn't call him that (a thief)...you are throwing words around and playing with semantics, the price point is robbery, that doesn't translate to him being a thief. I am allowed such opinions, and you can buy as many 150$ tubes as you please if that what floats your boat, do I appear to be trying to prevent either you or any seller from said transactions? No. Do I think its morally, and ethically erroneous. Yes.

Its funny, the psychological effect associated with the cost of certain goods...many people think, oh I've paid more so that means I've obtained more. In some cases you get what you pay for, but in many cases, you just get what you get, and you pay whatever the required amount to obtain it is...

Donny is a awesome guy..with a great business making ldc..is a free market any want could compete in the US . I don't se many people interested in doing so ... why .. is a gray area in the law..that if you dare you could do what he did start a business tu supply a real need to reduce the sound of our pcps is more enjoyable to shoot them in silence...but keep in mind that the FEDS paint the law whatever the color they need to..today is gray , tomorrow could be white then the poopt hit the fan n they could take every thing he owns .. o .. and ask for the record of sales in us n take ours to or simply banned all LCD...he simply is guy who dare to supply the solution to our problem...LCD are easy to make I have done a few..but since I dont have the correct tools is way harder..I could buy a lathe and a milling machine I have the space n money..but no time to lern how to use them .. I hardly have time to shoot what I have ..so for me and a lot of others is way easier to order a $150 LCD for our 1,000+ PCP...

I'm not going to walk on eggshells for you people who are absolutely, out of their mind coming into this thread with such an aggressive stance about manufacturer of a moderator whose price I cited as being outrageous..even more so when the OP agreed and concluded they are outside of his budget.

You people need to take a step back, and dig deep into your mind and think prior to taking such actions. Lets not derail this thread into moderators or manufacturers of them that are outside of OPs price point...certainly when you're not contributing whatsoever to the original posts intended request for guidance. Good grief.

No idea what a "bora" moderator is, but this thread seems to have gone off track regarding pricing.

Many of us do not have the skill or equipment to make their own moderator, nor do they desire to try. I'm one of those - I would prefer to buy a known tested and reviewed model. In addition, something which not been mentioned yet, is aesthetics and curb appeal. I don't want an ugly Coke can hanging off my $1500 rifle. If I can buy something that looks good and performs well that adds to the utility value of the moderator then why not?

I also don't think you are giving the designers of these moderators much credit if you are likening a garage tin can to a CNC machined, HA anodized production model.

The Huggett Astille costs around $150. It's damn expensive, but it's the best moderator I've ever used. And it looks really nice. The tolerances are very tight and the parts fit precisely with very fine threading on the pieces.

Is it worth $150? Probably not fully, but it's definitely worth more than $20 in plumbing parts and hair curlers.

Agree.

There is no way that a $20 homemade moderator is as quiet or well built as a DonnyFL or Huggett. I'd love to see an actual comparison. In my experience, budget moderators are good enough and fine, but there's a reason that we all don't use them. They're a compromise of budget/sound.

English is my third language and im pretty sure what robbery means! Or similar, I know Donny from the Talon forum back in the days, hard working guy that built a family company, he doesn’t deserve this just bc you think his stuff are over priced. I think $150 is a fair price for great product that looks nice and works, specially Is American made!
