Anyone have a wall safe?

I need a small safe to keep my HW30 & a Leshiy or two in. This is only for storage when we're staying at our cabin. If we go back home the rifles would go with me.

I was planning on just using locking cases since they could also be used for transportation but I'm thinking I'd prefer a wall safe for extended stays.

Just curious about brands that are good, ones to avoid, etc.

On a related subject, I'd also like to find a backpack buddy bottle that would fit in a wall safe. DOT certified strongly preferred. From the little bit I've read this might be tough. But hopefully I'm wrong.

I helped a friend install a few of these flush-fit cabinets, that fit in between the wall studs.

The +

  • Discrete, they were installed in a walk-in, behind mirrors. and 1x in a closet
  • Probably safer than a regular stack-on cabinet, as someone can't easily walk away with it

The -

  • Limited space
  • You want to install them on a inside wall, to minimize the risk of condensation (if you live in a cold climate)

most of the metal gunsafes like you can get from walmart are decent deterrents if anchored well internally through the bottom and through the back in a way they cant be pulled off without a huge lever ... and prying them open would be very hard, 'especially' if its put in a tight spot like a closet , even with tools, but i wouldnt leave tools like crowbars laying around lol ... i like the flush fit one mentioned above to, again, a good tight location where it would be hard to 'work' on it is beneficial ...

Do you happen to remember the make?

It will be on an interior wall & hidden behind something else.

Off hand, I'd guess Homak or Stack-on, he got them from Amazon during on of their sales.

  • If you (or one of your friend) is handy with a MIG, you could probably make your own for not much $. In reality, it's just a sheet-metal box with a hinge and some locks.

Depending on the size of the airgun, I knew one guy who liked yo kept his "pesting" rifle in the garage. He used a old empty breaker panel to store it...

Camouflage is everything. Most people would not realize that this beaker box is access to a safe. Though it does resemble a gold mine to a copper scraper/thief. A hidden wall inside of a closet is easily done and no one would be the wiser unless they were using a tape measure.
