Do the tubes for sale have the ferrules already compressed ?

I changed my HP piston rings the other day and took down the tubes

they did not leak when I hooked them back up but from my experience the ferrule usually compresses a bit and on the line which is also compressed a bit so usually with water lines they can leak if reused.

I will probably order a set of lines.

They are cheap just like the other important parts of he YH, piston assembly etc.

The airline fittings can be repeatedly removed and reused, provided you don’t do a gorilla torque down like I did. I knew better, and always use a back up wrench, but I think I just went a bit too far in tightening and what it did was ruin the ferrule seal against the hard air tube, which then caused a leak. If you just tighten to a stop in the threads, then go a 1/4 to a 1/2 turn more you’ll be ok.



i don’t believe the ferrules come pre crimped on the tubes. Those tubes have to sit down as far as they can go into the pocket of the male end of the threaded fitting, so having the ferrules pre crimped could be different from one compressor to another, even though they are the same exact Yong Hengs.

Those new ones look pretty close to the originals. They look a little longer but that shouldn't matter as long as the other end angle is similar. 1/4-1/2 turn should be sufficient when clamping down for the first time but if you undo and reassemble, you should just nip them up because the joint has already been stressed and won't have enough give to take another 1/4-1/2 turn. Stainless steel has a lot less give than annealed copper pipe, so more care should be taken when tightening the nut. I think that you may already know what I'm saying but this may help some of the more heavy-handed people out there.

Woooo Hooooo!!! Mr Grimm thank you for the link to Belmetric.com!! My lightning compressor is all 100% sealed and back in the saddle!! It took one minute total to go from zero to 4640 psi. 



I know a few of you wanted to know what type of ferrules are used on these high presdure 6mm air lines, so here’s a pic of the invoice showing part number 9101-0406 @ .89 a piece.

on the pic of the hard line the Belmetric ferrule is the shiny one to the left, and one from Tuxing to the right.



also are pics of the compressor. The only leak I had was my test pressure gage that I had attached to the fill block. Compressor held the 4640 psi pressure.
