Anyone checked out the cheap PCP Compressor prices on eBay?

Just browsing and happened to find the GX CS2 pump for under $300 and a ton of other Chinese pumps in the under $250-300 range. These are mostly the 12v compressors we see on Amazon for the big box airgun stores for $500-700 each.

Since my GX CS3 took a dump literally at 50 hours runtime, I might look into one of these options for a cheap gun filler that I know will die within a certain amount of time.

Just figuring why pay retail for a pump with a very limited lifespan?

It's the non oil or grease model. I started noticing that it was taking much longer to fill. Then it made some really bad metal on metal sounds. Then it started running smooth again but not building much pressure. I went back and forth with the Amazon seller for 3 months as it was still under the 1st year of warranty. Finally the 1st year expired so I'm going through Assurion and will see what they do.

I'm honestly frustrated by the whole PCP compressor market. The Chinese crap has taken over and anything that is actually a good product is north of $3K.

My next compressor purchase will likely be an AireTex model.

Congrats you are very lucky to get that many hours out of one of those. Most people get far less. I don't even look at anything water-less or oil-less myself none of them are very durable when compared to the water cooled units.

But if one can't do a Yong Heng and a tank then that is probly what you gets and they can last a bit longer than a year, for the most part, if well taken care of. So, are still less expensive than a tank and the paintball or dive shop fills.

I don't know if AireTex is still open I could not get ahold of them so I bought a Alkin W31 V. after going through 3 compressors. This thing is AMAZING! 1000PSI top off in like 6 minutes. 60-minute tank empty to full 20-22 minutes! Plus it produces breathable quality air.

Good Luck in your search

Would you ever go with a gas powered Alkin?

@2D1C - thanks for the heads up. I didn't get through the first call but will try a few times. I really want an Alkin, but I don't think my house electric will support it. 110 single phase I believe.

@ctshooter If you’re seriously considering an Alkin I suggest buying the W31 Mariner 220V build. Their 110V build will require a 40 amp breaker/circuit I believe. Regular residential outlets aren’t wired to handle that amperage to my understanding. You can plug the 220V into a dedicated dryer outlet min 30 amp to my understanding. On AGN @Humdinger is a great resource on these compressors. If you call Alkin ask for David

I don’t think they’re open any longer. When I searched for them all information I encountered online was years old.

Unless you have a very unusual situation, you house will most certainly have 220v available. I can probably answer any questions you may have in that regard.

I've tried the Yong Heng - wasn't a good first experience and they are just silly loud and vibrate the whole house - wife not happy.

I've been using boosters the past 4-5 years. First a Shoebox F10 and then more recently an Altaros booster. They work fine, but I want to eventually upgrade to a professional level model.

I purchased one of the Chinese ones from Amazon. 4500 psi rated, adjustable auto stop. Was $265.00 on prime day in July. Water cooled and working great. You have to be protected from heat caused by such high pressure. Be sure to use good compressor oil. I believe the oil is the key to survival. Good compressor oil is stupid expensive but definitely worth it. It does take some time to fill a 20 cu ft bottle, and my rifle fills are about 2-3 minutes from 1500 to 3000. It is loud but I'm out in my shop so no wife trouble.😎

If he has a gas dryer, gas stove and no central A/C, he may not have it. However, if there's a couple open slots in his breaker panel, he can have an electrician install a two pole 240 V breaker and run an outlet just next to the fuse box. It should be a pretty cheap job.

I'd probably just go with a higher quality 120 V model that will take longer.

Yes, a rental house may be an issue. My point was more that virtually all homes have 220v available, not necessarily accessible…unless you know a guy, and/or the landlord is agreeable. I am an electrician btw.

Appreciate the info. Now I just need to save $4K. An Alkin would cost more than any single airgun I've purchased.
