Anybody use a pellet pen...?

I just ordered an Air Venturi pellet pen, should be here tomorrow or Monday. Who uses one and what are your thoughts on how well it works? I get tired of keeping pellets in pockets while in the woods hunting and trying to dig them outa the pockets. Seems like the pen will make this a lot easier.

I used to use one when I was shooting breakbarrels and it works well. Makes loading quicker and I would think that it will be perfect for hunting.

iv used on but still have to load the pen so I just figures just as easy to push it into barrel as you still have to do that with the pen and seat the pellet for hunting I can see it being better than fumbling through the tin or pellet pouch I have one in 177 and im going to be trying it again with the guns iv gotten

I use one for my Artemis PP700S-A pistol. They work very well and allow faster loading. However, they can also be cumbersome because of the pen diameter not allowing exact pellet to breech alignment. You should evaluate your available clearance in your application before buying one. The rubber keeper diameter on the end of the pen is 12mm.

I have 2, I attached pocket clips to them so they stay in my shirt pocket till I want them. Work good they have a rubber nipple where the pellets are pushed out to prevent them falling out. I use them on break barrels and reloading my FX rotary mags.

I have one with lanyard+pellet seat and like it for break-barrels when moving around. Easier loading and protects peletts vs loose in pocket. Be aware that you can double load pellets if you don’t pay attention.

I use one for my rws34 .177. Works like a charm and seats the pellets consistently. Using rws hpoint pellets also.

Appreciate the feedback guys. When I got home this evening UPS had dropped it off. I'll check it out in the morning. I'll be using it with my Diana 34. Has to be a much better solution to the old "dig in your pockets for a pellet" process I've been doing. After I have a chance to use it I'll post an update.

If you stick it in your pocket then the pellet you're about to load may or may not have lint/grit/dust on it....better check.

Doesn't work very good on a lanyard unless you're just sitting or standing still.

If you give it a good shake, or drop it, pellets go flying everywhere.

I just had to have one, but after I bought and used it a few times it got pitched into the junk drawer.

Your milage may vary.

I make these out of Craft Foam from Walmart...

I hear you - the ergonomics have to be there.

That one you made actually looks pretty usable to me! How does the material hold up?

I use one for my break barrel. Works well. I like the adjustable "pen" end to seat the pellets.

That is pretty cool. I can see how that would probably work really good. I assume you wear it around your neck with that lanyard?

I have the .177 and .22 units. Work great for a stroll in the woods. Not quite "idiot proof" but oddly enough,even I don't have much of an issue with them,so there ya go....

It has held up really well. I made 3 of them and use them alot. No problems at all. I just use a 5/32 drift punch over a piece of wood to make the correct hole size for .22 pellets.

As long as you only make them to hold 25 pellets or less then the weight loaded and the size are just perfect.

Doesn't work with gloves on though, thats probably where a pellet pen shines. But in all honesty I hate doing anything with gloves on so I very rarely wear them.

Now that looks like it probably work pretty good. Might be noisy though while walking, but I guess you could line it with some type of soft material.

I got my pellet pen in the mail a few days ago. Just used it for the first time yesterday....has rained here it seems like a month solid. I think that I will like it when hunting or walking the woods /fields and shooting. Shooting from the bench I don't see the need. It seems to work just as advertised, but I will have to kinda get used to the "motions" of using it. Will sure be a much better alternative to carrying and digging pellets out of the old pockets. A little bit of money well spent I think.

I use JSB 8.44 grainers in my R7 (break barrel) and it works great. If your pellet is a tight fit you may still need to push them in by hand to fully seat. I'm using the Air Venturi model from PA.
