Any US Optics TS12X users?

I have bought one for my Leishiy 2 which has just arrived at EdGun West today. First impression on the scope are that the optics are very good. I really like the reticle for a hunting scope just wish it had illuminated reticle for hunting in the woods. I find the reticle is too fine below 6 power also with the first focal feature. But I have other scopes that I find I stay between 6 and 12 power usually when hunting and shooting around the house. I have a Hollosight red dot scope I am going to try on the Leishiy 2 Along with the USO scope with a 45 degree rail mount for anything within 25 yards . I think it will come in handy when I have a squirrel treed and I’m under it at like 10 yards. No need to fool with power or parallax adjustment. I will use this scope awhile and see how it goes or until a similar size scope with illuminated reticle comes out.

I would call the company first hand if I were you and specifically ask which models are Japan made and which models are made in China and only buy the Japan made ones since you talking Nightforce as a quality reference I assume. You can get the Chinese versions for 3/4- 2/3- 1/2 the price finding the spinoff labeled scopes don't be shocked people find out the hard way after spending all their hard earned money and I used to laugh about it witnessing it but now I'm giving back and trying to save people some serious cash now thats all. I believe Japan made scopes share similar price variances between different labeled cousin scopes depends how greedy the company is how much markup.

USO got a lot (like 10x) cheaper sometime in the past 10 years. Anyone got the insider scoop? I saw a few that were awesome, but that was back when they were way out of my price range. Now they seem reasonable. What happened? I'm particularly interested in hearing from those that own NightForce and USO...

TIA,

GsT

I sent USO an e-mail over the weekend. Here's what they have to say about the TS line (which explains lower cost):

Our TS line is designed and engineered in house here in North Carolina, and then sent to our US Engineers that are based in China. The optics are built there and then sent back to us here in North Carolina where they undergo quality control and testing. They are sent out to our customers from here.

I’m with odoyle, 1000 dollar for a Chinese scope is a marketing, profit grabbing scheme or plain greed! If you see an item in the store for 100 bucks then shipped cost of the item is around 6-10 dollars or less even. That 1000 dollar scope probably cost around 80-100 dollars each to Long Beach harbor if you buy half of a container worth. Warranty and all that is a marketing ploy! At least retail store is expensive and they gotta pay people but when online places sell the same product at full retail then that’s in itself is a scam because they don’t have expensive retail stores to pay for.

If us optics sells the scope for 600 and another online place sells the same scope but difference label at 180 with some warranty then which one would you buy? Why not buy 2 and forget warranty?

the fact that they admit they only sell Chinese scopes mean they are just a middle man with custom specs and logos because they buy a lot. You can support them all you want but I won’t.

If you search on Sniper's Hide. They had a discussion about it. Seems like the scope's quality assurance is done in the US. Manufactured in China by Discovery.

  • Should you have a warranty claim, it's probably easier to deal USO

so they pay some kid to look through the scope and twist the turrets a few time. With the level of quality control in Chinese these days you won’t many defective ones......QC in China is fraction of the cost which is built in the price already. Highly doubt the couple do people peep through the scopes here will do a better job. Can they post their QC process/procedures? I bet they won’t!
