Any thoughts on Ambi grips on PCP Pistols?

Been trying to rethink my airgun line to better focus on indoor shooting and perhaps extremely quiet backyard shooting due to an upcoming move. I am rather torn on which pistol to pursue due to the fact one of my sons is a lefty and I refuse to make him try and conform in order to shoot. Obviously left handed folks are and after thought when it comes to most of these pistol grips and even rifle stocks. So my questions are as such:

Has anyone ever used the Hammerli AP20 with adjustable R/L handed grip? It doesn't look very solid IMO. Any idea as to where I could find a 3rd party grip that requires no adjustment for switching between hands?
I'm looking for good safe .177 fun in the basement; not Olympic trainer so it doesn't have to be a perfect grip that nestles every crevasse in your hand. I could get 2 pistols and setup for each hand but at a cost that would eat into my rifle budget. I going to get an ambi stock on the rifle as well. Thought I was going to try and obtain the Griffen LE that has been listed but realized that's not an ambi stock.

Open to other quality pistol suggestions. Single shot or clip doesn't matter but would like it to be on the smaller side and not like the Prods or Hatsan lines.

There is the Crossman pistol which I have heard mixed reviews on.. It is small and from what I read gets a gazillion shots. Maybe its perfect for my needs and would allow for greater saving that could be used towards the more expensive rifle..

The Ataman is a sexy pistol that has mixed reviews on loudness and shot count so I have all but ruled that one out. I think its only available in .22 which isn't the end of the world but not preferred if I can avoid it.

Sorry for the long winded ramble but know little about the pistols and could use some input.

Thanx
Doug

I have the ataman and what I did was clip one of the coils off the hammer spring so I can turn the power down to about 6fpe and back up to 13ish fpe when I want. With that, the loudness tones down as well. I do have the ataman LDC so that helps. Turned down it is not loud at all. You can actually get a .177 at krale online as well as the LDC, which is where I got mine. It's a great pistol for what you want. I shoot mine indoors at 5-10 meters. Forgot to say turned down I also get about 40-45 shots per fill before falling off the reg

I enjoy shooting my Crosman 1701p Silhouette pistol in my shop. It is a quiet, accurate, pcp pistol in .177 that gets at least 50 shots. The bolt can be switched to either side making an ambidextrous pistol. The stock grips are ambidextrous, also any grip that fits a Crosman 2240 will fit this pistol so there are custom left handed grips to be had, too. The trigger is very adjustable(same trigger as Prod) as is the hammer spring.
The cost is under $400 and with a LW barrel is capable of sub dime sized groups at 25 yards although I usually shoot indoors in shop at shorter distances. PA has a good blog by Tom Galord on this pistol.

Thanks for the heads up on locating the .177 version of the Ataman. I will have to look into some video on tweaking the pistol but what you mentioned seems simple enough and I would always try and have a backup spring on hand just for good measure. As for the LDC..I didn't know they made one for that pistol. I will be anxious to see what it looks like. I'm moving to NJ and they have a bit of a hardon regarding detachable LDC's.

That's all true. I have shot one that a buddy bought and reversed the bolt. If I had to have something to complain about it would only be that it is bolt and not lever but Its not worth complaining about. It's certainly in the running. Fact it may be my pistols in the beginning and I can always buy a high end pistol later down the line depending on funds after my rifle purchase. This is the rifle I may get as it's much cheaper than the Griffen I was lusting after. It's an Air Arms S400 MPR Precision.
