Any suggestions for make FX Revolution backyard friendly

I have owned my FX for a little while and it shoots like a dream... We moved houses and our new neighbors are.. A bit on the jumpy side.... We have a huge feral pigeon problem and while I've eliminated a few I've had my neighbors complain due to the noise factor. When I ordered my FX I spoke to the great people at AOA and they recommended that I use a baffle adaptor thing that they sell and it does help a little bit but is still a hit too loud... I spoke to the chief of police and explained what was going on and he said it was fine to eliminate pigeons but that if I broke a window or something of that nature it completely changes everything.. I did ask about neighbors complaining he said that it would be all up to the officer called out to see what he decides to do. Any tips or advise is needed and greatly appreciated.

Get to know your neighbors. You will be living next to them for a long time. Start with an informal beer or cookout. Maybe invite the husband over to do some plinking with your "pellet gun". I say that because it doesnt carry the taboo of "air rifle" to the uneducated layman. Their fear will subside with knowledge. If it were me.....I wouldnt shoot for now around the house until you get to know your neighbors. I would take that time to build a silent pellet trap as well. If push comes to shove you will probably lose. Turn your neighbor into an airgun freak like yourself and or at least make them knowledgeable enough for their fear to subside. I would also invest in a really good moderator. Maybe get Neil Claque....not sure if I spelled that right.....to make you a super quiet one.

This is true, we've gotten to talk to a couple of our neighbors and they are super nice have had a few cold ones and family conversation, there are a couple of them that they just won't budge... Been here for 5 months and its been like pulling teeth... Everything from howdy neighbor to help them when they are outside cutting the grass or trimming trees and I've helped out but they are just... Different. I ultimately there are two of them that really concern me... I'm not trigger happy by no means so I have avoided shooting until we can break that ice or barrier.. I'd hate to sell my FX for this only reason... I'll keep trying though in the end, I will hold off until we can get that bond going or change strategies with a quieter pcp.

I appreciate the advise, thank you Marksman3006.

Bummer man........real bummer. Sounds like your bending over backwards already. I would research and get a ridiculously quiet moderator......and shoot from inside the house out a window or something. I had a pulsar with huggett that was so quiet.....nobody and I mean nobody could have heard nothing. There has to be a way. That really sucks. Bait the suckers where you want to shoot them......where the neighbors cant see.

You've reached the point of no return. They now know what your gun sounds like and neighbors aren't necessarily concerned with sound as they are concerned about a pellet whizzing by their ear or hitting them. You'd probably have to sell the revo. since the blowback mechanism makes quite a bit of sound. Most likely you'd have to go with a repeater .22 caliber to remain stealthy. maybe even .177 as the pellet impact adds noise too.

It definitely is a bummer... Been trying to find a way around it but it really seems as Jclee says I am probably at the point of no return... I may have to sell the Revo, options that have came to mind is a Daystate Wolverine B with a Huggett moderator, or a Taipan Mutant with a RL moderator... Daystate is a bit rich for my blood right now but if it's the best alternative it will be cheaper than have to go through the headaches of dealing with PD..

I did look for some moderator of some sort for the Revo but the blowback system is said to be affected, I'm not 100% sure of this yet, what I can tell you is that the baffles are not quiet..

You could try playing music while shooting to drown out the sound. It's harder for people to complain about that type of noise during daylight hours. Complaints about noise aren't taken as seriously before 11pm (or there would be no workman on the road ever).

The fact is that they don't have that much power over what you do in your own home. They might be able to hear the air gun but the noise is not that loud in DB if measured and probably doesn't break any laws. lawnmowers are far louder.

If it's legal to use air guns in your neighborhood then, they can complain all they want but they have no right to stop you. If it's illegal then it's a different story.

You tried to be nice. Maybe it's time to let them know that your good nature has it's limits and you plan to exercise your right to enjoy your property doing legal activities whether they like it or not. They can can invest in triple glazing if outside noise bothers them so much.

Sometimes you have to just let people complain so they can see that they don't have the rights they thought.

When I lived in an apartment in Manhattan, the neighbors below would constantly complain that they could hear me walking on my floor. I wasn't going to give up my right to use the floor.... They were told by the building's management that there was nothing they could do but they still complained constantly. It only stopped when I started making complaints about them to show them how annoying it was. It turned out the building had much stricter rules about harassing your neighbors and putting threatening notes under their door etc.

Harassing your neighbors with constant complaints over nothing might be taken more seriously by the police than making a little noise during the day. If the police came, you could just say you were using power tools and tell them how crazy the neighbors are. They'll probably stop responding eventually.

If you give these people an inch, they'll take a mile! You're giving them too much power over you. They won't stop complaining even if you get an LDC. The noise of the pellet impact will be enough if they have an issue with you shooting.

ErikHow does a LDC change the blowback? Adding a LDC will not change the function of the gun, just the sound

I wondered the same thing... Since the air for the blow back system is before the thread for the baffles etc... AoA recommended the baffles and last time I spoke to them they said they don't recommend it, funny thing is I got the baffles through them. I've not experienced any issues... Other than the noise of course... Maybe I need to add another PCP to my stable.. :)

I just read through a lot of pages on our city ordinance and there is nothing and I do mean nothing that says use of airguns is illegal... Still my discovery was not enough... I got on the phone and spoke to the lieutenant of police and he said there is no law or anything in the city ordinance prohibiting the use of airgun, granted that can change in the event it is used illegally.. So... I like to treat people the way I would like to be treated and I've done imho my due diligence... :)

If it's not illegal then you have nothing to worry about.

If you're not shooting at night and disturbing their sleep or first thing in the morning at weekends, then you're not being inconsiderate. It's not like they tried to meet you half way. For example, "I have a nap 2-3pm in the afternoon, would you mind shooting at other times". They just said don't shoot ever because we don't like the noise. To that, you can only answer "tough". I assume you're not shooting all day every day.

Before you go investing in new airguns or LDCs, I would make sure it's really just the noise that bothers them. An LDC will do nothing to reduce the noise from the semi-auto gas tube assembly anyway.

Next time they complain, I would explain that it's not illegal and you are perfectly within your rights. I would also explain that it is up to them to properly sound proof their house if they are so easily disturbed. They can't expect all their neighbors to tiptoe around them.
