When considering factory stock springers, I have not shot one which kicks harder than the Crow Magnum, or is rougher on scopes. Does anyone have any other opinions about scope killing airguns which may be ever worse than the Crow Magnum ?

My vintage R1 in .22 hits hard, but I don't have a frame of reference with the Crow Magnum...however, the ASP20 in .22 is on my radar, so then I might be able to connect the dots re: my fellow Califas boy's comments!!! If the R1 hits harder than the SIG, then we can insert it between the Crow and it!

I have owned 4 different R1s. They are not even in the same conversation with the Crow Mag/Eliminator, in regards to kicking. But man how I LOVE an R1 !!! Especially with a full power Vortek kit. Even more with a retro fitted gas ram ! Heaven to shoot. The Rx1 and RX2 also kick harder than an R1, just for FYI.

Good info!!! My R1 doesn't bother me at all...but my frame of reference, honestly, is small at this time!

First generation Gamo Magnum .22! Three confirmed scope kills! Very sharp recoil! This gun is too light in weight and too powerful. Bad combo for a springer! Artillery hold, HA! You gotta bear hug this thing like a 30-06 deer rifle! Turns scope reticles into fidget spinners!!!

RWS 52 was the worst I've shot. Extremely harsh and violent. My friends Crow Mag was nowhere near as bad.

...or try breaking in a 'new - old stock' .177 webley patriot.....or even a .177 turkish patriot..... that beat the livin poop out of me...

My D350 Magnum in 22 had a brutal shot cycle out of the box, it ate a Sightron scope and 2 UGT scope mounts. Tour it down debure and re lube new piston seal much better shot cycle but still kicks pretty hard.have now added a ZR1 mount with BSA scope so far no problems.

I've also owned both a .177cal R1 and a .20cal RX1. Neither recoil like my Sig or the Eliminator.

I wonder if there was something wrong with it ? I have owned three of them, and found them tame on scopes compared to my Crow Magnums. I had forgotten the Dual Magnums. I only shot two of them in my years. My RWS 56 is extensively tuned, and extremely smooth for 24 fpe, but it killed a Burris PA Airgun scope, a Leupold EFR, TWO B&L Elite 4200s, and an old Trophy. That sliding rail system, that hides all of the recoil from the shooter, is waaaaaay hard on scopes. There are only two scope that have lives successfully on that gun.
My last Crow Magnum was in .20 cal doing 27 fpe. It killed all but one scope in the 13 years I owned it. I think most Magnum springers are okay on most decent springer rated scopes anymore. But some airguns are simply evil on them. In my experience, if you don't start with Acetone, lock tight, and a torque wrench, your scope is sliding backwards most times anyway on a Magnum springer, lol. When I got my first adult airgun in 1985, I spent the entire first year trying to keep a scope still on the rail. I remember my shock when the amazing "scope stop with set screw" just tore the weak RWS mounting rail backwards, lol. I ended up selling the RWS to buy a Beeman to get away from the external mounted scope rail grooves, to go with grooves cut into the receiver. Then my Beeman/Hakko just took off backwards again ! I was fit to be tied, until someone finally showed me the only real way to properly mount a scope on a springer, and a year of airgunning had been wasted, trying to shoot until I finally learned. What frustration at first. I am glad I endured.

Well, I understood Webley Patriot , lol. I had two of them, when they were branded Beeman Kodiaks. Kicked hard as hell, but I had my Crow Mag at that time. The Kodiak didn't kill the scopes the Crow Mag did. Nice guns when tuned !
