Any Steyr Hunting 5 semi-auto owners out there?

Yes the spring advance the mag.

the lever that holds the mag, it's activated by the blow back pressure when shot to advance to the next pellet/slot

there are critical adjustment to be made for the mag to advance smoothly.

1. the mags width front to rear has to be identical ------ if not each mag will have a different blow by with the auto seal oring, that means the fps will be slower with the smaller mag. you will notice one mag will be looser or tighter with multiple mags

2. the barrel clearance to mag has to be at the minimum without binding while ejecting/cycling, adjust the clearance to the thickest mag or the clearance for both mag to have the same blow by.

to adjust the barrel clearance:

loosen the barrel 2nd screw nearest to the muzzle, the screw near the mag is the adjuster, that screw seats on a off set divot on the barrel --- when screwed in it will move the barrel aft. adjust till barrel touch the mag without jamming while being cycled--this will give you the less blow back and give you the best ES.

here is my mine before I sold her.

Yes, new owner was vary happy, it came with 4 identical mag, and 2 smaller fitting mags.

its great fun AG to plink and pasting but not for high accuracy--- due to pellet being shot out off the mag that isn't completely sealed. For these reason it can't have a tight ES with this system --- that's why it was sold also gain expectanc in turning them.

auto seal needing S-tool to replace, it's vary complex.

best part from the rear you can adjust simi or manual loading.

Thanks Ernest

That did the trick. Thats a fickle little adjustment there. Do you think that adjustment screw would benefit from a drop of loctite?

Also, several people have recommended shooting the 14.3g pellets at about 920 fps. I would prefer to shoot either the 15.9g or 18.3g pellets. Can you recommend a velocity for either of those?

And is this the hammer spring adjustment?

Yes the center hex,

if you adjust to much CW the auto will not work, but can single load by the cocking handle like the hunting 5, i think there was a set screw on the side to set the adjuster. One time I set it to 12fpe and work great. While adjusting you my expectanc raped fire on one pull of the trigger.

after setting the barrel clearance, you set it by tighting the 2nd set screw on the barrel, leave the adjustment screw along--->don't tighten

each mag is different in the way of tightness of the bore and mag slot it will affect the pellet ES, as with mine the 16g had the best ES at 880-900 fps
