Any Hammer Love Out There???

So, I bought a Hammer from a member on AGN. I shot it about 10 times and loved it. Only shot at 25 yds to get it sighted in. Clover leaf with 3 shots using Mr. HP 350gr bullets. Although awesome and fun to shoot, somehow I convinced myself to put it up for trade. Why??? Well, to be honest, I started reading all the problems everyone else seemed to have with the Hammer. So, with little luck in trading it off for something that interested me, I decided to take it out again today. Filled it up to 4500, after 3 shots and a big giant smile, I was back hooking it up to the compressor for another go around. This time I set up some oranges at 25 yards. Oh the carnage! The gun is accurate, the puff of air is very minimal for a lefty and the satisfaction of vaporizing oranges is second to none. Needless to say, after I’m done typing, my Hammer is getting removed from the classifieds. What a fun, powerful and accurate gun. Is it a Texan, well no, it’s a Hammer. Anyone else have a love for the Hammer? Any long term owners? Any problems I should know about?

i absolutely love my hammer !!!

i put down every big bore i have to hunt with this season to try the hammer. so far,

i have 2 deer and 2 hogs using NSA 388gr hp's out to 50yrds. the gun holds POI very well between hunts and always performs properly.

too much negative stuff out there about the hammer. to me, its a joy to shoot because it means business.

i laugh about some people talking down the hammer....i just ask them, do you own one ??

hahahaha !!!!

its a great hunting machine !!!

Yea, twice. Lot of air usage. Lot of noise. Lot of plastic. Unrealistic fill pressure. Not really accurate either. I'd rather shoot a 20ga shotgun with slugs.

David he has my old hammer I traded for the Texan .308

The woes you list are the same I told him when we were messaging back and forth about it. They did a bunch of little things right (magpul ar15 grip for instance, the polish on the CF tank , etc) with this rifle but a ton of big things wrong.

With all do respect, please refer back to the original post guys/gals.

“Anyone else have a love for the Hammer? Any long term owners? Any problems I should know about”?
I apologize I didn’t clarify the questions above. The questions are progressive. Those that like the hammer, whom are long term owners, have any problems arose that I should know about so I can be prepared with spare parts and such. I guess what was on my mind didn’t make it to the text in the post.

I understand you all are trying to be helpful, but I’m afraid your comments are not beneficial to the original intent of the post. Thank you to you Hammer owners who have given your input. It’s much appreciated. This gun is not for everyone and I’ve been around enough shooters to know not everyone can shoot every gun accurately. I have owned many MOA airguns that very experienced shooters couldn’t repeat that accuracy. And the same goes for me. So yes, I guess I’m asking for biased responses to the positive. Yep, I said it.

I think when most people ask for opinions on something they bought they typically are looking for biased opinions on the positive, thats ok. However when most opinions are of the negative that should also speak volume. Thats just my .02. Like i said when we spoke, there were a ton they did that I liked with this rifle but performance wasn't one of them. I wish you luck with it.

IVE had my Hammer since early December. The only problem that I have is that I didn't buy it sooner. Some of the problems people have to start with, you have to read the owners manual carefully. I read a post the other day, too late to comment on this guy's problem. He couldn't get the bolt to cycle. He was going to cancel his hunting trip. Says in black and white to unscrew the field safety until red is visible. Another problem that I read about is a guy's gun was leaking, it plainly says that the gun may leak until the gun is filled past 1000 psi . There's a bunch of problems that can be eliminated simply by reading, understanding and applying what you have read before you go monkeying with the gun. I've had no problems with mine, I was hooked after the first shot. Now my wife wants one, yall make sure not to buy one so they are still available when I order hers

I've owned my Hammer for 2 years now and I haven't had the first problem. I don't understand what the puff of air problem is. I'm right handed , I shoot with one hand on the fore stock and the other on the trigger looking through a scope. How then can the escaping air be a problem to the shooter. I love my Hammer and that's that.

No experience with a hammer from me. But I think the hammer suffers the same fate as most big bores. Low quality barrels. My Texan 50 barrel was horrible and took hours of hand lapping to get it to perform. There are post on the forum of Umarex Hammer with terrible barrels. If you get a terrible rough barrel in a hammer or Texan ,AEA, or.any other big bore I bet it's not consistently accurate. How much leading is in your current hammer barrels. Does anyone shoot groups at a 100 yards?

I bought mine used. The guy I bought it from said he had shot a couple of deer and hogs. I sighted it in and shot at 25 yards and then 50 yds. with spot on accuracy. At 75 yds it dropped about 5 inches. I shot a doe at 48 yds. in the neck exactly where I aimed and it dropped like a sack of potatoes. I bought this gun only to deer hunt with not target shoot as I have a .30 and 8 .22's to use. I am very happy with it. I use nsa 388 gn slugs.

For me my Umarex Airsaber has been boring accurate. Nice stock. Decent trigger..460 fps.just works got it for $230.00 on clearance. I wouldn't mind buying a used hammer and rebarreling with a green Mountain .510 in the future. The hammer comes.with a 4500 psi carbon fiber bottle. Most aea have aluminum cylinder s which are heavy. Pros and cons to all of them. My Texan 50 has it problems too.
