Hey fellow E30 guy!  I used to be really big into cars but I’m slowly drifting away from that…it’s so much work! I just don’t have the time to do the projects properly…too many cars sitting around unfinished. I’m slowly trading out the car hobby for an airgun hobby. I’ll get some pix up of my cars…

    91 325is with S50 swap…lots of other mods
    e39 540i 6-speed supercharged with other goodies
2002 golf (r32 body clone) TDI heavily modded diesel

Aww that’s a shame,  6 speed with nice M-Parallel’s  Awesome car they’re so much fun on the highway.  Love that E30 is it an I or IS?

Edit,  now I see wow supercharged too.  Yeah I’ve kind of got the Subaru where I want it now the first year was so much work to get it baselined to where I knew it well now it’s just time to enjoy it.  As you know it snowballs and always wanting to improve things on the car but there’s a lot to be said for good balance and not always chasing the next mod.  Great taste in cars as soon as I saw E30S50 I knew what was up haha.  Amazing cars in general,  the new Bimmer’s just don’t have what they used to,  when I had that e28 so many of the parts were 30 years old and worked perfectly.  You could go into a junk yard and dust some 35 year old part off and it works as good as the new one,  doubt that can be said of the post 2000 models.

Regarding the e30, I’m not quite sure if it’s an i or is. Probably a 325i because I believe it has an open diff. But the prior owner told me it is an “is”. Ultimately I don’t know if it matters much because most everything has been changed anyhow…now it just needs a limited slip diff…and probably some mild forced induction. THEN she will be done!

Of all the cars I definitely like the e30 most. Honestly, if I had a barn/land I would buy up every e30 on craigslist and horde them all haha! I’d have my very own e30 junkyard to build project cars from.

There’s a massive difference in the experience of working on them too. It’s so easy and fun to wrench on the e30.

When I work on the e39 I invent new swearwords every time! I literally hate it! It’s easy to see why people are starting to do the LS one swap’s and those cars. It practically frees up a cubic yard of space in the engine bay plus you get way more power!

those Forrester’s are pretty cool. I always like seeing the ones that people mod with STI parts.  I’ve never driven one but I bet they’re funny as hell

Yeah the older ones are definitely more fun to work with,  as for the Subaru it’s a Japanese import so it has the WRX drivetrain with higher compression.  I can turn up the wick to 20+PSI it’s an absolute blast to drive and handles amazingly.  Very nimble and setup for the road with STI suspension and big sway bars,  sounds amazing too.

There’s no comparison between the USDM ones and JDM ones (first generation),  double the HP almost,  LSD diffs, panorama power sunroof etc etc

Nice rides gentalman . The torino gt is sweet . Always had a soft spot for the e30 too but never took the plunge and bought one .
Just spoted the upcoming corvette C8 road testing here in the middle of nowhere south west VA , lol . Awesome . To much camo on the car to see what it really looks like but overall silhouette is very similar to a Ferrari 488 , and it's Definately mid engine . My brother got a quick vid of it , soon as he gets me a still or two ill post them up . It was pulled off in a wide spot along with a white 911 turbo , we turned around but they took off as soon as we did , pretty funny .

Brought it back to life, painted the bodywork and wheels(myself) ,new brakes/lines,Barnett clutch, quick shifter, new wheel/swingarm/steering head bearings, new chain/sprockets w/revised gearing,speedo-healer and fresh rubber since June when I picked the poor thing up. 18,000 on the clock. More work will be done this winter.

My other toys. The Miata is a driver but it's set up for SCCA autocross. Lowered ,heavy sway bars ,full cage, D.O.T. legal tires…not the most comfortable ride, but the car is a ton of fun. This spring will be my son's first season of autocross.  The Z3 was a gift from one of my customers. I say a gift because I bought it for 3k with 45,000 miles on it. He broke down 3 times in one month with the car and he just wanted the car gone. I bought it and it turned out to be his brand new battery had never had the terminals tightened.

Y'all do have some nice rigs.

Many years ago I had a 1970 Buick stage 2 455 with some goodies added  but really fairly stock except the higher stall 2 speed torque converter and is was all out American Mussel. Unfortunately one day it became airborne at "200mph" ( ya sure, wasn't that fast but as the Judge said " you were close enough") . Only utility for the lst 40 or so years.

     BUT

I DO need a hobby and now shake too much for shooting.

We've had an old utility Van for a few years but only use it perhaps 100 miles per year. No real idea why but last week I decided I like that old Van  better than out '95 F-150 with a new and or custom everything so the Ford will be leaving and just the basics done to the Van.

But, what's just the basics? Freshen paint naturally & factory White. Wouldn't want any custom part showing but do I just massage the 318 EFI or drop in a  383+ N2o et al ? Still has 100% of the factory stickers under the hood and every single original part ( minus rubber). Keep it stock and it would be a 1st in ( odd ) class rig everytime – not that I care- my personal feeling is all out sleeper but without tubs or anything showing.

We'll see.1st pics shows every bit of body damage and just look at the undercarriage (w/out even a rinse).

and the correct mileage, purchased from a local sitting Judge

Seems like it would be better to tinker with it a bit than just keep using it to store Chicken food.

Just might have a sleeper next year?

    John
