Over the last 10-15 years I’ve been kind of a driving, car nut.  I went through a mad old BMW phase and owned 6 or so and loved tinkering on them and improving them.  My second car was an old 318i e30 body style.  Then took a hiatus and drove some other stuff,  then moved out West and found the great car market here.  We don’t get much if any snow here in the city it just rains a lot so no salt so old cars last longer.

Here’s a 1980 320i I had, it was actually painted with marine paint but they did a good enough job and it was a good runabout for a few years until it was hit with a telehandler forklift while parked on the street.

Then after that one I found a 1983 320i that was in really great shape,  the paint was great and they always run great.

At the same time I had this 1983 533i which I fell in love with,  I had this car for 8 years and did so much to it.  Originally bought for 450$ it ran great but needed lots of little things which I gladly did for it.  I put an engine and electronics from a 1993 535i,  bilstein sport shocks/spax lowering springs,  M5 rear sway bar,  e32 750i HUGE brakes all around, I refinished these wheels by hand.  All the cars I’ve had except one have been manual,  I hate auto.  I put the 535is airdam on the front of it and Euro headlights,  in 1983 this was the fastest 4 door car haha.

Then 3 years ago I sold the last Bimmer the 533i and decided to dabble in the RHD world.  I picked this 1999 Subaru Forester S/tb (S turbo) 5 speed from a local importer and had it sent on a ship from Japan.  In Canada a vehicle only has to be 15 years old to be imported whereas in the US its 25 years.  It showed up in very good shape just some minor clear coat fade on the roof and both the side skirts had cracks on the front.  I fixed that all up and went to work,  Subarus are great they’re like lego you can fit basically any part within a 10 year span up or down to any model.  I got some really cheap STI springs and struts on craigslist from a 2005 and bolted that right up as well as the matching rear sway bar.  Put a bigger inducer wheel in the turbo and bigger injectors and had it tuned.  Also added a Innovate SCG-1 which is a boost controller/AFR in one and a bellmouth downpipe so it can breathe better.  5 speed AWD ripper!!  In Japan they are governed to 180kph but in the tuning process the tuner removed that and on a highway trip in “Mexico” i had the speedo wrapped to almost zero again before I let off.  It’s a very quick car and so much fun to drive,  also put some yokohama s-drives on it so it sticks like glue.  It has a panorama sunroof that goes into the back seat and when I bought it, it was 15 years old but only had about 50000 miles on it.  I did the timing belt when I first got it just to be safe and put a good stereo in it.  Also recently put some power seats in it from a 2006 JDM legacy GT,  really nice seats just bolted right in and the pigtails were already there so just plugged it in!

So I still have the Suby and it sleeps for Winter,  recently my dad decided to give me this sweet old truck he bought some years ago.  He lives in Toronto and bought this on Ebay from a guy in Oregon.  He drove it home and it stayed there for about 8 years getting Summer driven.  So I had it put on the train and sent about 3000 miles to me in Vancouver.  It’s a real sweetheart of a truck, with a pile of miles on it but is in incredible shape.  The transmission was recently rebuilt but still feels stiff but getting the hang of it.  The wheels were kind of chrome and rusted around the outer ring,  so last weekend I stripped all the rust off and painted them.  Turned out great!,  also repainted the grill and all the orange on it was done by hand with a brush.  It’s just waiting till Spring I have a minor water leak I gotta deal with into the cab,  and some very minor dents to take care of in the back.  I might take the canopy off for the summer too and do a bed liner.  It really doesn’t need much other than to be loved.  I also have a daily driver 90’s Honda accord that just takes the shitty kms and Winter.

This first picture is still in Toronto before painting the grill/corner lights and wheels and a good thorough cleaning.

    The wheels before.

This morning I took it for a boot around the block.  It’s an 84 Nissan/Datsun 720 4×4 btw.

That’s where I’m at for now,  have the truck, Subaru and beater Honda.

I don’t tinker with my cars, but I do enjoy riding them. “Shadowfax” is always topless, unless it’s raining, snowing, or high noon. “Phoenix” takes me through the snow and over the hills into the muddy hunting grounds.

Thanks !! That was a 700 hp  Shelby GT 500 ,was the first car I ever ordered the way I wanted and waited months to get, sadly I am self employed and had a lean 2015 so I  could not see wasting the extra money on a toy so I let it go,and a year later with a couple of big contracts under my belt I purchased the hellcat which is also a 700 + car so my need for speed fix is met again. Lol

Oops my bad,  those Hellcats are nasty powerful and I bet a tonne of fun.  That truck is sweet too,  I drove one similar but the 1/2 ton with the Hemi as well for work a few years back and I loved driving it.  Great sound and very rev happy.

Thanks, actually it is a Gmc/Jimmy  it has a S 10 Grill,  I just call it a Blazer, it gets about 5 mpg , but tons of fun, it does great burnouts, very hard on tires…the CTS  has the Supercharged Corvette engine, it can do about 22mpg on hiway,, I got that on the trip home when I purchased it in august last year , for some reason it don’t get that anymore( must be my leadfoot)  it will get sideways  with the traction control Off , but takes off straight if left on , the best part is it has all of the options/creature comforts, so I can cruise /putt around , & gearhead when I want to,.. actually that is the reason that is My LAST Hotrod , I have been modifying /putting cars together from 16 yrs old  I am 69 now, I guess I worked my way up to this one , all of my other cars will be sold before this V.. there is  a guy in town that has a 2011 CT-V 4 dr  that has 700 Hp drives it on the street, & drag races it , I will look for the vid & see if I can post it have a good one , roger  ……….here it is 10.43 @134mph  MODS  IF THIS IS NOT ALLOWED PLEASE DELETE SORRY………https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGkVbGOQ9b8&feature=youtu.be

Well the tinkering continues on the old Datsun/Nissan,  the rockers had a couple places of surface rust so I wanted to get on that right away.  I use this awesome product called POR-15 basically a chemical reaction with rust and turns into rock hard epoxy and stops the rust in its tracks.  Did that over the little spots then rubberized undercoat on the rockers in all 4 wheel wells and wherever I could get to on the backsides of the fenders.  These trucks came with basically zero undercoat just primered steel on the underside.

Painted the trim a nice dark black again as well,  next was a couple dents it had in the rear corners and some of the rust monkeys starting.  Looks like someone brushed on some orange paint over the rust at one point.

Knocked out the dents,  stopped the rust with the POR-15 then some bondo then some very good color matched paint.  I backtaped so I didn’t have a sharp line as no way I wanted to paint the whole box.

The middle of the tailgate is the original paint and below the black line and the corners are the paint I put on,  very good match.  This isn’t a show truck so more than good enough for me.

And finally just pulled the canopy off and did Herculiner throughout the box even did the sides of the tailgate and right up to the taillights (they were removed)  Added a stereo about a month ago,  there was a crappy JVC tape deck in there that was installed by a mongoloid and was sticking out 3/4 of an inch.  I found out why when I removed it,  there was so many redundant plug connections and so much extra wiring.  Hacked all that out of there and now it sounds good with 2 new 4 inch speakers aww yeahhh.

Sorry about the sideways pictures,  I upload them rightside up from my computer and they get rotated.  This many pictures I can’t be bothered doing the rotate puzzle.

    Thanks!
Couple better pics, bedliner turned out great.  Those dimples along the box are spot welds I think from the factory for some reason they decided to make the box out of many pieces.
