Anti-NRA commercial on FOX

After reading all the comments I will be continuing my membership in the NRA (possible lifetime membership) until there is some organization proven to do what the NRA has done for our 2A rights. Without what they have done we could be in the same position as the UK and Canada with gun rights. Thanks for keeping this Veterans head straight.

I have to agree with several of the comments in this thread regarding the need to stand together. Stand together or hang alone.

The NRA may be a mess right now, and it needs to go through a reorganization process, but despite all of its flaws, it has been the single most effective lobby for protecting 2A rights (which trickle down to airguns). If you can, I encourage folks to join as many 2A and pro-airgun groups as possible. More importantly, learn how to contact your state and federal representatives via email, phone, or regular mail. Part of being a participant in the fight to protect your rights is to actively participate by contacting your representative, Senators, and state reps. It might sound contrite, but by contacting them regularly about the issues that you care about sends the message that the people are paying attention to what is going on, and if you are willing to take the time to contact your government representatives, you probably also vote regularly.

Contacting your representatives is even more important if they support gun control or the further restriction of your 2A rights. It sends the same message, and the more people that do this, the more impact it has.

The links above will help you find your representative and senator, should folks feel more inclined to act than just philosophize on lofty issues.

Thank you.

Cornpone, that was an honest question, I was not passing judgement.

ps, I would not wish UK firearms law upon you. nor would I suggest you "adopt" it.

Sir,

I was not trying to give you a hard time. I was hoping you would explain to those here who do not realize just how hard the government can make owning an airgun, when it wants to do that.

Yes, sir, we do get a say in how the NRA is run. It has been run poorly of late but it is also the main target of a gun hating public that wants to see it destroyed. It's been a bumpy ride for a few years now. They've declared bankruptcy and are intending to reorg in Texas. That will get them out of NY, and that's a good thing.

I am very sorry. I did not intend to offend. I was honestly hoping you would talk a bit about how hard it is to get an FAC AG in the UK. Seems like Canada is even worse to me.

Have a great day.

It's much easier to get an FAC in Canada as far as I can tell. Dont need to explain "why" you want one.

Clean record (no felonies), application similar to a passport and do a safety course. Done. (It does take a while, couple months perhaps till you get jt)

Fun fact, no laws against shooting toys for fun in Canada. I'm antithetical to the improper use of "duel"

Back to the original commercial that Cornpone started this topic about, nobody but an airgunner would even bat an eye at what kind of gun that was. If you listen, they even dubbed in the sound of an actual gunshot when they show that under lever. Just file footage some know nothing put together when making this commercial. They probably had to be careful that they didn’t show guns with distinct markings on who made them for legal reasons. Interesting commercial. Glad you posted this. I never saw that one. It’s a nice kick to the coin purse.

I was once an NRA member back in the 90's, but got fed up with the constant begging for money.

Among some other gun owners I know, NRA stands for Not Really Against. The same way that NASA should stand for National Academy of Space Actors or Never A Straight Answer.

The first four words of the Second Amendment are "A well regulated Militia" and the right of the people to keep and bear arms are based on the fact they are needed to form a proper militia, but I don't notice too many people wanting to do militia training on a regular basis in order to be well regulated, that is to be trained and disciplined and properly lead. Owning guns comes first, which is last mentioned in the Second Amendment, and being a well regulated Militia, which means training and discipline comes last, which is first mentioned in the Second Amendment. Personal thinking needs to come around to the proper order that the Second Amendment intended.

The NRA never pushed for militia training as far as I know. It would of necessity involve much more than mere safety training. As far as their safety training program goes, there has never been one in any of the numerous local areas that I have lived, and I was never invited to one in all of the numerous letters I received begging for money.

Time for a new organization that takes the Second Amendment in its true and literal meaning.

Hmmm, that's some convoluted logic there... But keeping with it...

The first amendment is first because it discussed the most important rights a citizen has.

The second amendment is second because it provides the citizen the authority to secure his first amendment rights from his government.

I would say that supports your argument.

Carried to it's logical conclusion "arms" obviously implies weapons of war.

Agree. If one thinks that there is any media and political outcry around the issue now, consider how those that believe in the restrictions react to such organising and training already. I wish the NRA had been managed a bit differently, and possibly it can improve in the future. But at the moment, it seems to literally be the "only game in town".

One wishes it was as easy to fix the problems with our government by a simple bankruptcy and reorg... Sadly it ain't... So we are going to abandon the ONLY organization that has fought the legal battles to maintain any defense at all of the Second Amendment BECAUSE of SINGLE sourced information fed to us by an anti-gun agenda driven media which has a history of lying to us?

Seems the anti-gunners are alive and well RIGHT HERE.

Yeah, burn it down, don't try to fix it. I just took the current deal on a life membership not for what they have done this decade but for what they have done the last hundred and fifty years.

Because there are way more criminals at the top of BOTH political parties and they steal a whole lot more money from me each year than NRA has in my life time.

But yeah you guys that think we need to just let it fail BE SURE and let me know when you have set up an org to replace it.

Thanks for not making me type my same thoughts. Well said. Good, bad or indifferent, we would be in a lot worse shape today without the NRA.
