Anschutz 380

I found this little honey of an Olympic 10 Meter rifle at the gun show. No sights , but a factory 11mm rail. Rings and a Hawke Vantage 3X9 scope and she is good to go. I get a kick out of punching neat one holes through the target. If I do my part , it is better for the job then my vintage FWB 124D or my AA TX200. I wonder if a stronger spring could reach out further , with less drop but still keep the accuracy ? Anyone know ? Who does such work ?

Joe , I had my eye on an FWB300S at the same show , but after going home and doing some research , I thought the Anschutz was the way to go. Also the FWB300S was a bit rough around the edges. Lucky the guy that had it didn't know it's real value and I traded up . Right now the rifle shoots fine , but the info will come in handy down the line. Steve at Pomona Air Guns can fix it , but your guy would work out for a power increase in the future. Thanks !

My personal opinion? I'dd say, don't mess with perfection. The Anschütz 380 falls into the Feinwerkbau 300 category, only slightly better. Go out and seach for a diopter sight set, pop that on this beauty and start shooting the lady in the way she's ment to be shot with. Punching out a tiny .5mm dot at 10 meters is a load of fun, extremely addictive, and way more challenging than shooting with a scope.

Not sure what you payed for her, but where I'm from (Europe), these things are rare and people pay premium for a 380 in good condition. I've seen them getting sold for $600 or more.

I traded another gun worth around $400. As far as the original peep sights , my 69 year old eyes would not work out. That is why i went with a scope. The value would be higher with the original type sights , but it is not for sale. I do enjoy the craftsmenship of the gun , those guys who made it were tops. I had a chance from the same dealer for a Feinwerkbau 300S , but I went for the Anschutz 380 because it was a little better gun , rare , and in better physical shape.

Valid reason to use it scoped. But to get back to the original question of a stronger spring. These rifles weren't built for stronger springs, but for punching holes with 7,5 joules at 10-meters. You can replace it, but the rifle won't shoot as refined as it does now, and I don't know for sure if it would damage the rifle in time. The more powerful the spring, the harder the piston slams. Because of the state this thing's in, and the fact that it's pretty rare, personally I wouldn't take the chance of damaging this old lady.

Just joined after seeing this post. I live in Granada, Southern Spain and actually I have seen a few 380's for sale and not that expensive. Mine came with the original diopter and peep sight and was 290 euros! I have the plastic cheek-piece model also which I actually prefer aesthetically over the wooden cheek-piece model , which I understand is harder to come buy. I have a FWB 300s Universal version 1 and I found from the outset I shot better with the 380...incredible gun! The bluing is more like black chrome, but I don't mind that either. Fitted a Tesco 3-9 x 32 scope as I like the older scopes from that era! Un abrazo a todos desde Granada!!!! :) ...ps...I am actually from England but my wife is from Granada.

Looks great! I prefer the plastic cheek-piece to the timber one. I saw a timber one for sale in Mallorca on a website. A German guy was selling it but no takers. It looked a little worn in places, so I went for one a friend here had for sale and love it! Just came across a nice 220 also, so will post some pics when I have it. I do love Anschutz...they are serious pieces of shooting equipment. Enjoy and good to meet you! :)
