Another Springer?

Due to certain issues I've had with my arms I laid off the springers in general and stuck to my PCP's. Tonight, needing money, my half brother says 'I heard you're into airguns, I got one I need to sell'. He showed up with a older crosman Fury in .177 with a 4x20 tasco scope, near soaked in gun oil, and it dieseled on the one horribly loud shot I took with it to confirm it worked. I figured it was at least worth the $40 he was asking.

It's seen some use, but I figure with how light it feels to cock it may not give me the troubles my previous springers had.

Those look like nice rifles. As described, it'd be worth the $40 to take it home, clean it out & use it. If the cocking pull is OK at this point, so much the better. My Winchester's pull is so hard after awhile, I gotta use both hands. Big rifle too @ near 52" & 9lbs. The fury sounds good. I'd buy it & clean it out good, checking things along the way. Maybe a seal kit, since God knows what oil he used?

The older Fury that I had was a good rifle to learn on. I learned that the pivot bushings are not metal. I could never find a bronze thrust washer that I could adapt. The barrel detent spring is not available from Crossman, mine got weak very fast. Breach seals are not O-rings and blow out quickly. You can do the bearing fix on the trigger , but you may lose the safety. Not much need to worry about the trigger until you can get the Fury locking up much more consistently than mine ever did. I got mine for $40.00 at a yard sale, it appeared like new. I feel I got ripped off. I used it as a tomato stake , I left the scope on it. I really hope yours is much better than mine was.
