Another Firearm Guy Falls Victim To The Airgun Addiction ! !

I moved from powder burners over 10 years ago. It's still a learning experience. Nice part for me, if I want to tun a gun, I can do it at the range. No need to load 5 rounds of one type, 5 of another, find a day to go to the range, take records, and such. These aren't my strong point. However, with the guns that have adjustments on the gun, you can tune at the range.

Best part though, when I go to the range there aren't many air rifles, so everyone has questions. Last time, at 75 yards, I let one of the range masters shoot. First shot ever from an air rifle, hits the bullseye. I mean, dead center. Nice to give others a good experience on their first shot.

And as I age, recoil is a major problem. Between age and Muscular Dystrophy, airguns allow me to keep shooting.

Enjoy the dark side. You never stop learning and the fun never stops either. Always a challenge.

Yes! It's great when you have "skeptical" firearms shooters come up to you at the range and while they all like power what they respect the most is accuracy and most are pretty impressed when they see what a modern PCP rifle can do.

I am getting my firearms friend into air rifles and at the range earlier this year we sighted in my Royale 500 (with 25.4 gr) at 50 yds then pushed it to 100 yds. No scope adjustments took some shoots and marked how low they were from center and counted the drop in hash marks on the reticle (Tac Vector 10x40x50) he then held over that number of marks first shot dead center at 100 yds. He was astonished and even took a picture he was so impressed. He now has a .25 Maverick and there is no going back now!

one costs a nickel to shoot and the other costs up to 2 bucks.

I shot powder burners for over 50 years before buying my first PCP last year - a Marauder pistol. It and a hand pump worked for me for 6 months or so then I added a 25 caliber Avenger. Another 6 months and I bought a Artemis P35. I had a blue streak for about 50 years but PCPs are so much more fun when you do not have to pump them up for each shot. I shoot up to 30 meters in my backyard (perfectly legal where I live). I have to drive to a range to shoot longer distance so that is more seldom. But I shoot probably 5 or 6 days a week on average. Most days I spend less than $1 on ammo. Even when I shoot a lot it is a few dollars. The guns and the compressor and the SCBA tank cost more, of course.

It's fun to try different tunes and ammo and check out penetration - all without needing to go to a range. It's also really fun to knock a squirrel out of one of my oak trees occasionally. I ate one for dinner.
