Another cricket ll squirrel hunt

Back in the woods on Sunday for some crossbow deer hunting with a side of squirrel. Started out at 11 degrees before daylight but the forecast was sunny and I knew I’d warm up soon. Spotted my first target of the day and had to hold the crosshairs on him for a few moments waiting for the right shot. After confirming his demise through the scope I lowered my gun and noticed something I’d never seen before. Ice has formed on my air tube! At first I was confused on why it was there but soon realized it was my breath that had frozen to the rifle. Note to self, don’t lick the air tube, check. Back to hunting and rushing the sun into the sky. Spent the next few hours sitting on the ground smacking squirrels as they presented themselves. I missed the closest shot I had all day which was completely my fault. The cricket would’ve scored a limit of 6 if I’d done my part. Five hearts for my dogs and five fat squirrels for us will suffice. I did recover one of my fx hybrid slugs while getting them ready for the skillet. Not much expansion at 985 FPS but did deform well. Ask the fox squirrel if it LOOKS like they dump energy. Went in the back of his head and out under his chin and it looks like his eyeballs were trying to get out of the way. I pulled the slug from a grey squirrel and it’s the only slug I’ve recovered after coming out of my cricket since most blow through both sides of any game in its path.
