Another bipod clone 🤦🏽‍♂️

First off, I don't condone it. Then again, who am I to say. Here's another clone but this time, it's an Accu-Tac bipod clone. Looks similar to the BR-4 G2 and SR-5. Like a cross between both. I understand people are on a tight budget but if you save up, just get the real deal. I'm not sure if this is new or if it has been out for awhile. Maybe Tominco might have some insight. I'm actually a little curious about the quality. No I'm not looking to get one. I already have the real deal.

I have known about these for a while and I also do not agree with the entire clone concept. I hold a lot of respect for Accu-Tac and the product they make so, I decided to not mention this clone. I have a friend that had one. They couldn't stand it to the point of giving it away. IF I decide to get one and review it, I won't post the review on YT. It will only be on Airgun101 for the benefit of my fellow air gunners but I don't want to advertise for it by posting it on YT.

@peskadot671 - From what I know of both REAL versions and what I've learned through my testing, I would guess that the Accu-Tac clone would be better than the Atlas.

Thanks Tom. I was a little hesitant in posting this but I just came across it and wondered if they were new.

And mine. Just can't bring myself to spend $300-$400 for a bipod (not to mention the fact that I simply can't afford it). I've no doubt they're much better, but 10X better? $30 vs. $300. If I were a competitive BR shooter I'd feel differently no doubt.

I have three of these bipods, Green Blob & Fireclub from Amazon for around $40, another from Ebay for around $30. They all appear to be exactly the same and all work well (for me). I've never owned a true Atlas or Accu-Tac so I can't compare. I have several of the Atlas clones and like these much better. JMO

I have one of these and I'm more than satisfied with it. IMO it is better than the Atlas copies but lacks the pan feature. I have no qualms about paying 1/10 of the price of what it would cost here in Aus. for the name brand version. If anybody can afford to shell out that kind of freight for a gun rest then I say go ahead it's your hard earned. I would prefer to put the dosh towards another gun.

I have used clones of the Harris BRMS, and they work good enough for airguns. The design is such that it can be made cheaply (forgiving of inaccurate tolerances).

So I decided to try an Accu-Tac SR-5 QD clone. I guess it could be made serviceable by using Loc-tite on some of the critical parts/adjustments. Even then, it does not alleviate the slight wiggle in the extended legs. This design is not tolerant of poor tolerances. You'll need to spend more to get one that works well, so thumbs down on this clone.

The Harris bipods don't cost all that much but I'll still use the Harris clones. They are common and work well enough.

All these clones are pretty crap, however they can be made acceptable for air gunning with a little modification.

This is the difference really, if you want something that just works and will continue working then the original is the only way to go!

If you live in a country that charges exorbitant customs and taxes then the original may be out of reach (read double in price) so the clone presents a value proposition that is difficult to ignore, 10 clones or one original...

As stated, locktite, a correctly sized washer some lube in the right place or some rubber feet glued onto the legs and the patience to fix something that should just work is what’s needed.

Counterfeit goods are deplorable, sometimes what I deem counterfeit is actually made under license, I work for a large US manufacturer of computers, what we do to hide the manufacturing location of products is actually quite funny, but a little google foo quickly reveals the truth.

I cannot talk to the Accu-Tac clone, however I have found that at least some of the better Atlas clones are made under licence for the air soft market, while some are clearly scrap metal. They all need work to function correctly.

How to save yourself? Buy legit and rest easy or accept that your going to have to do some homework to make a product viable.

Unfortunately there seems to be no right and wrong when profit (manufacturers) or saving (consumers) is the motive.
