An Odd Compressor Question

Looks like water stain. Try something acidic like lemon juice or vinegar. They should have added an extra step "clean it thoroughly" in the start up instruction.

It almost looks used. I really hope that isn't the case. How does the rest of the unit look?

Yep it does look used or left outside in the weather. I've had my super charger for 2 years and it doesn't look near that bad … and I've never even cleaned the top off.

May be it has been stored in a warehouse with a leaking roof and it was in the raining season of China ? 

I just received a Hatsan Spark compressor, and I wasn't impressed with the surface of mine either. A lot of it looked bubbly, like they had painted over rust or something. The white lettering was obviously stamped, and some of it had smeared. Yours has a lot of white residue in the areas where they stamped or painted the white lettering, so they didn't clean up very well after they did the lettering. You can clearly see the outline of the templates they used for the lettering. They didn't clean it very well, and then they probably put a clear coat over the top of the mess, so I'm not sure you're going to be able to clean it up without stripping the lettering as well.

Here's a pic of my Spark. The F on "Fan" is pretty much peeled off, and most of the lettering is smeared. You can't see it in this pic, but the lettering under the positive & negative terminals is smeared so bad you can't really even see it. The bubbling is on the top & side, so it's also not evident in this pic. But overall, pretty sloppy finish.

I’m pretty sure that top plate is a single piece that can be unbolted completely separate from the compressor, correct? I would contact hatsan USA and see if they can swap out that top plate. The switches, gage, and plug can easily be popped off of that plate.

On my Lightning the top plate (control panel) is spot welded to the frame, not bolted to it. Would require changing out the whole frame assembly / control panel.

Good deal Jenady. That seemed very fair and it sounded like they responded very quickly. As with most of the vendors communications are normally at a snails pace so that was a plus as well. Keep us posted on how your unit performs.
