An interesting thing happened while selling my Renegade

So, my friend Michael G that owns one of the horse ranches in Descanso told me that he had been talking with some of his friends, and one of them might be interested "in a gun like mine"... I told Michael that I would be in Descanso about 8AM this morning. I arrived, checked my zero on my .177 Brocock Bantam and my .22 Daystate Renegade (that is listed on the AGN classifieds).

Everything good to go at 42 yards, so I walked around, checking out the ground squirrel situation. I didn't see that many, and only thwacked two in the first 15 minutes, when Michael's friend Danny drives up in his pickup and introduces himself. We start talking about air guns, and he tells me all he currently has is a Gamo that he likes but isn't good for much distance. I set my target box back out at 42 yards and we both started shooting, Danny with my .22 and me with the .177.

After about 15 minutes, Michael shows up in his quad, and we all start shooting the poop. About ten minutes go by, and I notice movement across the corral, and across one of the dirt roads. I glass the area and see a squirrel lounging on a fence on the other side of the road. To shoot him I have to shoot through not one, but two wood slat fences. I range the squirrel, distance is 111 yards. They both ask what I'm doing, and I say "look, WAY over there, see the squirrel on the far fence?" So they both look and finally see the squirrel...

I tell Danny to hand me the Renegade. Was are all sitting on picnic tables in an area next to the corral under some trees. I crank the scope up to max power (10X), and check my holdover. Looks like 17 MOA to me, and I "hope" that the trajectory doesn't hit one of the fences. I steady the gun, they are both watching me like I'm crazy, and squeeze the trigger - THWACK! The squirrel falls off the fence, it was too far to tell where I hit him, but the sound and his reaction let me know it was a good shot. We're all jumping around high fiving each other and smiling...

Five minutes later I look in the same general area, and another squirrel is on the same fence about 15 yards to the left of where the first one was. I look at Danny, and say "this one's yours..." He looks at me and says "really - 111 yards"? I tell him where to holdover, show him the sight picture on Strelok Pro, and he settles in for a shot. THWACK! Another one bites the dust. Now we're really jumping around and yelling, high fiving like crazy people.

And Danny looks at me and says "I'll take the gun... SOLD!"

Thanks guys. What I didn’t say in the story was that after Danny left, I put the Renegade back in the trunk of my car. I walked back to the picnic table area and to my surprise, saw a third squirrel not too far from where the first two were shot, standing up on the fence chirping. I couldn’t shoot from the picnic table because the fences blocked the pellet path. So I moved forward ten yards, leaned the .177 Bantam on the first fence, and let er rip. SCHWACK! .177 at 101 yards. A fun day overall.
