An afternoon at the bench

Took some time today and shot some groups from the bench trying different pellets in my FX Wildcat mklll in 22. Turns out at 50 yards the jsb hades won the best group prize.

so I have a question about the sweet spot of pressure. It seems that when I top off the rifle at 210 bar it takes a few shots to settle down with the most consistent groups between 150 and 190 bar. Has anyone else found this to be true?.

That is an impressive group!

I'm a total newb, but in talking with some experienced pcp shooters, I was told there is a "bell curve" that any particular gun will perform at best. The highest full pressure is not necessarily where you need to be for your gun to group consistently. Might also depend on whether or not your gun is related? I'm still learning.

Quick question, how do those hades load in your rifle? I have some H&N barracuda and they get hung up a lot while feeding. Actually all hollow points and pointed pellets I have don't feed very well.

Yes that was a five shot group. I also tried jsb 18 grain and jsb monster 25 grain. Both of the others shot good groups with the occasional flier ( which seemed to happen in at least two of five groups). For all I know my own shooting limitations could be the reason, but it seemed the first group after topping off always had a flyer. I spent many years shooting springers which required specific hold. I’m now trying to establish a consistent hold for precharged rifles.

That doesn’t surprise me with these wildcats. The mk2’s are just as accurate. I know a couple of guys that their wildcats are as accurate with up to three or four different style pellets grouping wise, just need a few clicks on elevation due to the weight grain differences.

to the op, it still takes skill to shoot like that, so great job on you!
