American Air Arms .30 cal EVOL - WOW!

Finally after months of waiting, my .30 EVOL Tac arrived a couple of days ago. To say I’m impressed would be an understatement to say the least! This is not my first AAA rifle, the EBR winning .308 Slayer is well documented.

By the time I had a scope mounted, I was chasing daylight and managed to sight in, and shoot a few 50 yard groups. These were shot with unsorted JSB 44.75 gn at 890 fps, or about 78 fpe. This is a MILD state of tune for the EVOL. The efficiency is off the charts. AAA are known for quality and power, but most people don’t realize how efficient they actually are. I’m drawn to, and fascinated by these guns for what they are - a micro brewed, boutique product that’s simply superior (IMO) to the mass produced competition. It just screams QUALITY. If you can run over an Edgun with a small SUV, you could run over this rifle with a tank, because it’s built like one!

There’s more going on with these guns than most people know. Every part is tested, obsessed over. They’re the Rolex of airguns, in my opinion (after 25 years in the sport). They’re a pain in the ass to get, but WORTH THE WAIT.

Anyway, I just had to share. These guns are simply badass, and 50 yards is nothing. It sure bodes well for 100+ yards though. Will share more as I shoot it, just need more spare time and better weather. Stay tuned!

JEALOUS!!!, one fine Rifle my man..., how long did you have to wait?

Been waiting since fall of 2018, right after EBR. Knew that a .30 EVOL would “complete me” haha. It shoots every bit as good as my (soon your) .30 RAW but it’s a down and dirty, rugged hunter / killer that suits my style perfectly. These guns are meant to take a beating and kill stuff, but they shoot like a bench queen 😂

@Brian.in.MI

Very nice gun! Whats the shot count? Does it shoot slugs well?

In the hour or so I’ve spent with it so far, it looks like 36 shots from a 4000psi fill. The reservoir is only 285 or 295cc, so it’s ridiculously efficient, way more than the high fill pressure can explain. Tom explains efficiency as “total number of air molecules” per shot. He told me to expect about 36 shots and was dead on. When this gun falls off the reg, the difference is audible. Has more of a “pop” to it. Sure enough, right at shot #35 it sounded different. At this point, I was shooting at staples and target scraps on my 100 yard backstop. Shot #36, still no POI shift at 100, but #37 fell off the radar about 1 1/2” low.

Does it shoot slugs well: AAA guns shoot slugs extremely well. They’ve been doing slugs since before they were cool. Tom shot ragged one hole at 90 yds with this gun and NSA dimple noses. But that’s Tom, my results may vary 😂

@Dairyboy

I just placed the order an hour ago. Going with the .30/prs stock. Looking to shoot slugs for small game hunting this fall.

Excellent choice!! Tom said it shoots the 53(?) grain dimple nose NSA extremely well, but they’re a little heavy for the 78 fpe tune. Nick’s 47 gn HP’s are proven shooters in the EVOL, but I’m curious to try the dimple nose if / when Nick makes a lighter version.

Sadly, the weather has been lousy here in MI or I’d have a few more pics to share. Stay tuned

I'm debating on the .22 HP Evol, or the .30, right now. I have Crown and Impact, .22-30 cals. The reality is, I shoot rats and squirrels out of my avocado trees. I'm lordering one or the other. The .22 HP is a slug gun. Decisions.

Fred, I’d probably go with the .22 HP for your application. It’s EXTREMELY accurate with JSB .22 RD’s. NSA slugs are exponentially better beyond 80 yards though. I was lucky enough to shoot the prototype over a year ago in CA with 27gn NSA. It wasn’t built with .22 RD’s in mind, as those were just coming onto the market. Meant to be I guess!
