Altaros bottle regulator instal on a 25 Kratos

I shoot at 10 meters with my 25 Kratos and wanted to have a velocity of 500-550 FPS with JSB Kings.

I ordered a Altaros regulator set to 24 FPE, the adjustment range is 100-150 bar, I should have had it set at 100 bar but more on that later.

I received the regulator fron Altaros with clear illustrated instructions and it arrived with everything needed for installation. Covid at USPS kept it in New York and made a 1 week journey into a 3 week twait, my booster however, was shipped FedEx and took 10 days on our nations snow bound roads.

The instal was straight forward, remove the stock, unscrew my CF 4500 psi .5l Chinese bottle, screw the regulator to the bottle and the regulator to the rifle without installing the fill nipple or regulator manometer to see where these two items position were when hand tight. With the regulator and fill nipple and gauge, you get orings, spacers, both metal and plastic to clock the position of the fill and gauge parts, Altaros also sends a bolt to screw into one of these threaded fill or gauge ports and you use it to fine tune the position of those parts without using the nipple or gauge and thereby damaging them when turning.

With this regulator, the OEM manometer now reads the regulated pressure, but my OEM Benjamin gauge was off by 800 psi, I received a new warrantee gauge from Crosman, but the dial face fell off so I pressed it back on and it does not work now. As a result, I checked reg pressure by shooting until the tank pressure dropped below the regulator pressure and then filled with my Spak compression to determine tank pressure and thus regulator pressure.

I put it all together and aired it up. On the low power setting I had 350 FPS and on high I had 830 FPS, I determined that I was at 1800 psi on the regulator and even though I could adjust to the targeted velocity and get over 150 shots, I wanted 550 FPS on the high setting for more efficient air usage by not using the air strangulation system on the Kratos power wheel.

I disassembled and had Lani, my wife, set the regulator to 100 bar, I refilled to 3000 psi, set the power wheel to max and chronied it at 547-550 FPS, the rifle is far quieter and extremely accurate at that velocity with Kings.

The tank to shroud clearance with my very slightly larger Chinese .5l 4500 psi CF tank just touches the shroud, with a Talon tunes tank or the OEM metal tank, which are rated at 3650 psi and 3000 psi respectfully, are smaller in diameter. Having said that, so far the contact is not a problem as I am getting little round hole 5 and 10 shot groups.

I have not shot a full string with this setting, but air usage at 3000 psi is very low, the regulator is good for 3600 psi tank fills, which I have not tried, but should yeilds 250 to 300 shots, yeah, in a 25 caliber. If that contact, tank/shroud, becomes a problem, I will probably either use the OEM tank, or trade my TT tunes tank on my Texan LSS 257, but I need to shoot shoot most of a tin to drain that air.

I would like to thank Vetmx and Troy Hammer for their advice especially to Vetmix for the posts and threads I followed on these pages and others about regulating The Kral bottle guns.

Regards and stay safe,
