Planned this day for a while, go shooting on my buddies awesome range in the Maynooth Ont. area. Took me 1/2 hr loading everything carefully. Food water all the goodies. Tools, shooting table and lead. Can’t wait, 1 1/2 hr. drive.

Get in car, start it. Stereo plays the blues, wait for warmup, put in gear. Nothing. Everything works but the engine. Driving a 2021 Mercedes GLE 450. German engineering has fatally let me down. Waiting for tow truck in stead of shooting. Unloading everything was nasty. Crow

oh they engineer things to 'not work' these days ... trust me .. the other day i got stranded at work with a dead battery which was strong that morning but it was 6 years old or so so i figured it gave up the ghost, it happens ,so go through the hassle to replace that and get going .. .but no, turns out the brake lights are stuck on so im like great cant drive like this the brake light is constant on im gonna attract sletus the nazi cop .. so i unplug the brake light switch just to get home i can feather the lights on when braking to fake it .. but no, thats not gonna work with the brake switch unplugged the stick stays locked, so scratch that idea .. so im gonna rig it at this point so break open the switch to see whats up, but its fine .. wtf right ... turns out theres this little plastic pad thats keyed into the brake pedal and its designed to eventually rot out .. and when it does theres a hole there so it dumps your battery and strands you lol ... tell me that wasnt done on purpose ... you know it ..

What a bummer. We know what happen.

Fictional....I dont think so, it has happened often enough that it has become a fact, not fiction!!

With all the electronic stuff on todays vehicles, simple fix is a term no longer used, I read that the average cost of repair at a dealership nowadays is 1800 bucks!!! No wonder folks pay big dollars to lease every few years.

Well...might have you beat..with Lexus weirdness..

Getting to your hunting spot and coming back after 5 hours of fun..to a dead battery..then realizing you left your jumper cables at home..and your buddy left his at home too..and you have no cell service.. If this were a video, the audio you'd be hearing would be heavily *bleeped*..

Much better to breakdown in your garage, even if you have to deal with a MB Service Department.

glad you got out ok and it’s just a battery, always carry basic tools and small parts when go out to remote areas.

I’ll take a 100 dollar battery that is due for a change over dropping an impact or at least a Dreamline at bmw or Audi dealers depending on the wind direction. Fortunately I got older and wiser and shown the fancy pants BMW and Audi both of my middle fingers!!!

BTW, love the GX! Fantastic car that is a sleeper off-roader in capable hands with a little bigger tires.
