Alkin,Coltri or other "high end" compressor?

I'm starting to dream about replacing my Omega Super Charger for a much higher end compressor. I have cultivated enough air gun friends, and with a vault full of rifles and two air tanks, I think this hobby is getting serious enough that a "high end" compressor might be a sensible investment.

I have been looking at Alkin and Coltri compressors. I would be interested in learning of the experiences of others within this realm and would appreciate feedback and experiences.

Thanks.

I do not think you could go wrong with choosing an Alkin, or Coltri compressor. I have a Coltri MCH-6 220v and am very happy with the choice. If you are unsure if you will stay interested, I would suggest buying a Bauer Jr., for a little more money at the start. The Bauer Jr. has better resale value than either the Alkin or Coltri.

Call Craig Huebner, at Nuvair, if you are interested in buying a Coltri. He is great person to work with.

Exactly the one we have. Starts first pull. Portable. Tops off tanks in a few minutes. Parts, doubtfully you will ever need them, are very affordable and readily available. Ours has the QD hose. We only need and already had a male/male adapter to fill a couple of tanks.

took ours on a two week PD hunt in Kansas and Colorado. Topped off everyone’s tanks every evening flawlessly.

we regretted buying two Alpha Carrette last year.

PM me if you need more detailed info.

There is also the German Bauer compressors like the PE 100 ( on the small side of their product range )

Price for those here is a bit higher than the Coltri mch6 compressor

I dont shoot enough to take the plunge on such things, the Coltri is about the price of 2 FX maverick rifles or 23.000 DKkr if you want the Bauer is 27.000 DKkr ( 3630 USD / 4200 USD )

My monthly pension is around 2000 USD, and not much left of it after the regular expenses.

Which ever one you choose make sure you have access to warranty repair in your area. Shipping a unit back and forth can be really expensive. That said you can’t go wrong with an Alkin or a Bauer unit. The Bauer Junior II is there lowest price unit and basically a bare bones unit. The Alkin 31 durability wise is the equivalent with more features for the money. Resale wise Bauer is better known and usually brings more money at resale. Bauer warranty work is done through a dealer network. Alkin uses factory support and repair contractors to do their warranty work. Either unit will probably last you a lifetime. I have an Alkin 31.

I know that what I have isn't as top grade as one of those brands but I have an air venturi air compressor. Not the small one but the large electric pump for filling bottles. It has an automatic shut off switch you can set to any pressure. It fills fast and has worked with only oil and water changes and filter changes. I've filled my great white multiple times. Like alot of times. Somewhere over 50 and under 100 I'm guessing. I bought it used too so to say I'm happy with it would be an understatement. I paid 600 for it used and I think you can find one for a little bit more than twice that. Amazon has one for 1500 but I have seen them cheaper. Just an option to consider man.

The Bauer Jr. II is a very nice compressor, but the $4500 model comes bare bones. Their motor doesn't have a power cord, hour meter, or on/off switch box. Add them as options and it's over $5,000 and not a continuous duty compressor. It's a premium brand but buyers pay a $1,300 premium for the Bauer name compared to an Alkin W31 which is continuous duty rated. In the air rifle resale market a seller will get a higher percentage return of the original purchase price for a Coltri MCH-6 220V or Alkin W31 220V than a Bauer Jr. II. Just considering compressor performance, features, and durability, I would still choose an Alkin W31 over a Jr. II if offered either one price difference notwithstanding.

Coltri, Alkin, and Bauer are all high quality compressors for the limited hourly usage an air gunner will subject them to. Your budget and your personal preferences should dictate which one you buy.
