Akela pointers?

I’ve had one for a few months. It seems to like the JSB 18.1grain pellets the best.i usually keep the power adjuster set at 3/4. That would be a good starting point for you since every gun can be a little different. One thing I want to point out is you will have to put high scope mounts on it. If not you’ll have to lean your head way over to the side just to see through the scope.I even took off the adjustable cheek rest and bought a rail cover on eBay. I can shoot it more comfortably now but still isn’t quite good enough so I bought a Scope rail riser for it on eBay also. I bought the lowest one because I don’t need much more height now. The one I bought is a half inch tall. I think they make them up to 1 inch tall though. It will be arriving today and will mount it on and have to resight it in. The gun shoots good and is a little on the heavy side once you mount a scope. The only issue with mine right out of the box is it had a little bit of barrel droop and is resting on the front band that goes around the air tube.It doesn’t seem to affect how it shoots though. I cut a thin piece of rubber and put it in between where it rests against the band. It isn’t supposed to have any barrel droop. I’ve talked to a few other people and it seems like several of them have made it out of the factory that way.The only real issue I think you’re gonna have is with the scope height. You will see once you mount a scope on it. Then you can decide how you want to take care of that issue like I did.

I got to put my new riser on there today but had to file the center tab on the riser because it wouldn’t fit inside the rail of my gun. The outer two tabs were OK but the middle one was .010 too big.I got all that done with just a little bit light left outside.Got my scope re-zeroed to at least hit the bull’s-eye at 25 yards. Will sight it in better when the weather gets better. Now I can shoulder the gun and the scope is right there where it should be. Half inch riser is all that it needed. I’m happy with the trigger on mine but each gun might vary a little bit. And also mine will shoot the JSB 15.89 just about as good as the 18 Grain.I haven’t tried a lot of pellets through it yet. I was happy the way it was shooting with the pellets I had. This spring I’m gonna try some different pellets.

If you need to add a riser, go-ahead and get a 20moa riser. That will tilt the scope forward just a bit, and allow to you use more of the elevation adjustment.

I noticed that my riser was .020 higher From one end to the other. I was expecting the gun to Still shoot low but instead it shot about 5 inches higher. I’m glad I had plenty of elevation Adjustment. And that’s what the package said. 20 MOA. That’s why I measured it with some calipers because I really didn’t know which end was tapered Smaller.

Thanks for the help. Going to have to get some risers, all I have are being used. By the way I ordered yesterday at 11:31 got an email that it had shipped with tracking number. Link wouldn't work on Crosman site (their website is hosed) put number in on UPS site. Suppose to deliver tomorrow, just love UPS here. Guess I will wait to get it and take some measurements and try some tall rings I've got.

Just got the gun about noon, but as I stated earlier about my luck, it's not an Akela it's a Kratos.

Except they sent me a Kratos instead of the Akela. Called them and got a return shipper so it's now on it's way back to NY. Hopefully they send me the Akela quickly.

How can they send the wrong gun to two people 🤔

Maybe more?

I'm sure they will make it right though. It sure sucks having to wait again.

As far as the Akela I think its a great gun, especially if you got it with the discount. As others have stated it will need a riser or extra high rings. Mine also liked the 18s better than the 16s too and was very accurate. It's not Marauder quiet but it wasn't that bad. I didn't want to add any extra length to mine so I shot it as it was. I'm sure you will enjoy it once you get it.

Thanks Randy. I had to chuckle when I read that IPA55 had also ordered the same day and then we both get the wrong rifle. But I do kind of wonder, now on the site it's listing the Akela as out of stock. Was that due to IPA55 and me ordering the last two? Or did others order it also and get them? The stock numbers are close. The Akela is BPA22W and the Kratos is BPK22W.

I'm sure that Crosman will make it right also. As I said, I'll call tomorrow to see what's going on with them.

Add me to the list, I ordered a Cayden and got a Kratos. But the nice Crosman CS lady offered to let me keep it (I mentioned that I didn't really MIND a Kratos with 480cc bottle of air vs 280cc on the Cayden) because it would cost them double shipping (since I had to return the Kratos) and they would come out losing the same amount of money anyway so ... I am now a proud Kratos owner, a $699 (retail) gun for $462 (w/AGN discount).

From my call to Crosman.

The tracking number shows the Kratos I sent back as arriving to them today.

For the out of stock notification on their website for the Akela, the lady told me they were expecting a new shipment of guns, including the Akela, about February 22nd. She sounded like there was some wiggle room on the delivery date. She told me that our guns would definitely be shipped out by the end of February - at the latest - although if the shipment does come in on the 22nd pretty sure we'll have the guns before then.

I'm saying wiggle room as she sounded kind of like past shipments haven't always arrived on the due date. That's my take on how she sounded, not what she said. With the 6 - 10 inches of snow forecast through Tuesday for us I can't say it's a total disappointment. Sure I'd like to have the gun to examine and try out the scope for it. But with the wuflu and all I'm not too worried..........yet.
