Airtanksforsale.com website problem

Anyone else having problems with Joe Brancato's website? I was going to buy an air tank but noticed that a) there's no option for credit card purchase and b) the site is not secure (no https). I find it rather unusual that, in this day & age of identity theft and internet scamming, a website offering items in the thousands of dollars would not be a secure site. Even while login in as a customer, I get warnings that the site is not secure.

Thinking it might be a software issue on my end, I tried three different browsers both on a windows and on a Mac computer. Same warnings about unsecured site.

I want to buy the tank, but I don't want to put my CC number (although the CC option is not shown as of my last check about 30min ago) or my Paypal account password in an unsecured site. Is the only option to call and give your CC# or Paypal password over the phone? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Thanks for any information provide,

I've always used the phone with that dealer, never even knew you could order on-line ( I think that's newer for him? Prices listed is new there to me ) and just looked.

Your very correct, no reason for that site to be set up with NO security. Anything can be hacked but clicking through to checkout and "unsecured" I believe would make it much easier for anyone looking to engage in nefarious activity?

There are airgun manufacturer wen site with a secure connection just to look at pictures.

"I" wouldnt have a problem as I would drop the internet & call as soon as I saw the connection.
My Wife would order online because, she knows the business name & nothing about online security except Amazon is okay to use, I really could see her and maybe others clicking right through CC, CID & all.

All that but,
I havent heard of a problem, yet.

If a site is not secured, i.e. no SSL/TSL encryption, any script-kiddie with an inclination to do so can easily snarf your every keystroke. Never, ever, under any circumstances type any input into such a site that you wouldn't want appearing on a freeway billboard. Anything you type while on a site with no SSL encryption goes down the wire IN CLEAR TEXT, meaning it can be read by anyone with some basic tools and bad intent.

For now, I’ll be buying from Airhog or Air Venturi. When Joe’s site catches up to this century, I’ll give it another shot.

A shame though, the products look good and they already have a running site, such as it is. All they have to do is add a SSL certificate. In my mind, that shows you care about the customer as much the sale.

Maybe the folks at airtanksforsale will get the message eventually.

And to answer LDP’s question, I wouldn’t give my Paypal password to anyone, but if that website transaction is not secured, then I don’t want to put the password there either. May well be that it will redirect to Paypal, but all the initial submission, your name, address, phone #, etc, is all on the unsecured site. Bottom line, airtanksforsale needs to upgrade the site. Chances are it will help sales.

Joe is a good guy that sells quality stuff. His website is whacked... no doubt! However, it never really bothered me, as I just pick up the phone and call. I have a tank and fill station that I purchased from him way back in 2011. Top notch!

Recently, I bought a din300 hose fitting to go on my Daystate compressor. The fitting wasn't deep enough. After chatting with Joe & Adam on the phone and a couple of text messages, he sent a refund. No issue at all.

If you want something from AirTanksForSale, give him a call.
