HOLE IN ONE!!!!!!!! Watch here: This was literally the shot of my life! I zero'd at 100 yards and impact was around the 9th Mil Dot on my UTG scope at 16x! Check it out: (Full disclosure - after my hole in one at 150 yards, I literally burned through the rest of the tin just trying even come close at 175 yards. I just don't have enough scope left - need to get adjustable rings! Thanks Steve for the suggestion!)

Good shootin'. As long as AGD confirms they sent you a ball you ought to be good to go. Just don't want any cheap arses (such as myself) to claim they had an official ball only to use a regular golf ball.

. Congrats on an Amazing shot if in fact you actually hit it?, But, how do we know that you didn't rig a spring loaded base that the Ball was placed on and covered with dirt to hide the spring mechanism activated by a electronic switch?
. It would not that hard to rig it, as everything can be hidden under a couple inches of dirt, and the ball could be pre-nicked with a punch of some sort!,
. One would have to admit that these are Simple Possibilities!

Now why didn't i think of that!!!! I could have rigged up a Kanooter Valve with a muffler bearing or just have someone behind a tree to shoot it for me from 10 yards away and oh wait AGD said to use the honor system.
But really this is meant to be fun and if we as a community of air gunners can't count on each other to be faithful and honest then we shouldn't even have contests.
It sure would have saved me a bunch of headache to just fake the whole thing.
Heck i thought it was gonna be easy! I started off with my ball sitting on a water bottle and hit the neck of the bottle on my first shot. thought i was a bad MF until i did the walk to find out i had ruined my stand. Then i got frustrated and hot. But in the end i'm proud that i didn't give up.

Well, being that there is a drawing for a $2000+ airgun at stake, it would behoove AGD, AGN and we, the fellow candidates to be certain some yahoo doesn't just come in and get him or herself entered into this drawing under false pretense. Let's not be coy, that's what society has given us. I do feel that veteran posters can be given a pass for the most part as I think we can trust most one another. But beware newbies' posts.
Not to deter anyone from setting out to accomplish this and post their results. And no one should be deterred from doing this if they're afraid their video isn't up to par, pun intended. Hardy har har har!!!! If I get to doing this my vid will pale in comparison to some of ya'lls'.

Ok - so here's the deal.... Either you can celebrate with me for making an incredible shot (which it was) as a community of supportive fellow air gunners or spend a bunch of wasted time trolling my video post second guessing it. Quite honestly - if you look through many of the videos on the trophy wall (http://www.airgundepot.com/trophy-wall-article.html) many of them do not show the actual shooter and down range ball in the frame and people using scope cams. Are you calling Steve from AEAC a liar that he hit his in 3 shots
Look - I know I made the shot and my reaction and excitement in my video was authentic and it will be a shot I will tell my friends and family about for years to come.
Just a little background info. You're right - I am a total noob to air gunning. But, I am learning so much from Steve over AEAC and Ted and all the great minds I have found online in this hobby. Here recently I had been missing the ballistic calculations and challenge / skill of marksmanship so I picked this up as a hobby after being away from any kind of weaponry for awhile. Hitting pumpkin sized targets at 3000 meters with 120mm sabot rounds wasn't an accomplishment in the Army - it was expected - just to earn your spot (and keep it) in the gunners seat.
So if you think I faked the shot with some kind of crazy contraption to make it jump up in the air - that is fine. But if you want to give me a virtual high five and yell out loud with a a Barbaric YAWP (Dead Poets Society reference) like I did in the video - that is really cool too and I'd appreciate it. For those of you who do not know the Barbaric Yawp:
So in closing - just know that when any of you post any success you find in this hobby, I will be there to celebrate with you and pick your brain as to what you learned along the way to accomplish that success.

Now as to the "rules are rules" point people are trying to make about this contest which is basically NOT a contest really - it is actually a drawing - here is a good point to understand in this converation.... This is not really a competition - it is a drawing with a fun way to enter. If this was a competition - I would be expecting the new red FX at my doorstep in the coming weeks unless I see someone else get a "hole in one" first shot.
So how is this not a contest and only a drawing? It was just a few weeks ago I mustered up all the skill and experience I had to randomly pick a number between $0.00 – $1400.00 for a chance to win a Airforce Texan: http://www.airgunnation.com/topic/win-an-airforce-texan-357-scope-bi-pod-more/ on this very forum - but I didn't win. Was that a contest or a drawing? Did the winner JKing cheat and have his wife who can see the future pick the number for him? We will never know.
When Steve from AEAC took this shot and hit it on his third attempt (great shot by the way Steve! Love your channel!) - I don't see the ball down range in the same frame as his shooting position. For all we know that ball in the cut away picture in picture is only 20 yards away and then he faked a long walk to fake the 150 yard shot:
or did 22Plinkster fake his shot with some Final Cut Pro video editing magic with a CGI powder explosion at frame 3 mins 45 seconds? We will never know!
or we never actually see Michael Mahony's face in this AirGun Long Ranger Trophy Wall video. How do know he didn't have an US Olympic Team air rifle marksman sit in for him just so he could be entered to win the FX. We will never know!
or this super shady AirGuitar Gunner character who blured out the Proposition (can't make out the prop number) campaign yard sign that is sitting in the lower left in the beginning of his video. If someone can't show their true political colors online and can only stand up for what they believe in with yard signs - can't trust them either! We will never know if he really made that shot or what if he was for or against that proposition on the ballot or what the proposition was for! We will never know!
Ok - I am just kidding of course on all of these and actually laughing out loud about this silly point that I am trying to make. But this is a drawing - not a competition. Have fun with it! ...maybe some of you are right that have called this shot's legitimacy into question and something else caused the ball to pop up like that. Did I really hit the golf ball at 150 yards. I analyzed the scope camera feed a little closer and you will be shocked as to what I found out. Take a look:

I went out today to try my luck at the 150 yard golf ball shot, I am using my scoped Daisy Red Ryder, got her all oiled, loaded and began getting her dialed in, I started with a few shots at 25 yards I got my Optima 3x9x30 set hitting one inch groups pretty consistent,, then we went out to 50 yards and the wind came up some, it was an up-draft that helped some in projectile lift, I had to adjust 4 moa up and was getting 13/4 inch groups at that distance, not to bad for a 430 FPS rifle, then we went out to 100 yards, I took five shots and brought my scope elevation up another 6 moa and my windage 3 moa left and hit bull's-eye with 2 inch groups, then we went to our 150 yard mark and made 12 shots to zero out the scope, we're ready, while getting the ball out of my bag it fell and hit a rock and exploded, well as luck would have it we were next to a driving range and managed to find a golf ball to use, I knew that that would be OK because they let others do it because they lost or their balls were destroyed, anyway, I got my cam set up and started rolling, took my shot missed took my second shot and hit high, dropped my moa down 2 and took my third and nailed that sucker, the BB was embedded in the surface of the ball, my 3 shot wonder, all on video, so i thought,, i went to check it out and the battery was dead in my video camera, Uhg oh crap, all that and no video, crap crap crap, well maybe they'll believe me and take my word for it, My Daisy Red Ryder is still a good rifle but a chance to win a new FX would be Great!

HMMMM......... I was trying to have a little fun and defend a fellow air gunners honor. Not to cause problems, but it seems we might have one now.
I could sit here and spout off my accomplishments or brag about my career in Intelligence. But I'm gonna just drop it. I feel like if i started down that road of trash talking i would just be an Internet Troll like you.

. So sorry to hear your scope got trashed when it fell off the bumper of your rig, that's a bad Break , hopefully you can get a replacement to go on and punch out the 175 and 200 yard shots.
Good luck with that, hope you make it, and in the future, when you put your rifle down, don't lay it on top of a truck bumper, always set it on a good solid flat surface, its alot cheaper in the long run.Good Luck With the Contest!

In essence, this contest is supposed to be a community building exercise which gives us all a reason shoot something other than a boring non-reactive target. It allows like minded people to come together and enjoy each others moment while circumventing all the expense and time of actually being there. The issue is that once a $2,500 valued prize is added to the mix, folks that would normally not get involved, do get involved as the chance to win the prize is one hell of a motivator.
I believe honest respectful questioning of publically presented content is healthy and should be welcomed by all as this level of scrutiny does what locks do, they help keep honest people honest. That being said, in my lifetime and in this competition I have made some amazing shots and told the stories of them to my friends and family but if a competition requires the video to capture the explosion of an AirGun Depot Exploding golf ball then that is what is required and at a minimum, should be expected.
To see videos accepted that do not clearly capture the most fundamental variable which is, shooter and ball exploding in the same camera view, is dishearting. There was mention in a post previously that made reference to the use of scope cameras. If scope cameras are used in concert with the shooter/ball camera it supports and confirms what is difficult to see in the shooter/ball camera. The scope camera does not replace the basic required rule of shooter/ball exploding video capture, it enhances it. I offered my videos with multiple camera angles to allow leaves, clouds, flags and other moving objects to be viewed and compared to allow whoever reviewed the shot, more information than required by the rules, not less.
My good friend Jay made the 175-yard shot and I was there to witness the hit but the shooter/ball camera did not clearly capture the hit compounded by the fact that the "walk to target video capture" camera battery died midway. While he and I were saddened by the experience, he decided to redo the shot to get it right.
The way I see it, we all have until August 31, 2017, to get our submissions into the AGD folks for consideration. If the shot does not clearly capture the hit, you've got plenty of time to get more balls and try again. In closing, a contest is a game of skill; whereby entrants are judged on their ability to successfully perform skill-type activities. Therefore, The contest requirements, the criteria on which each entry will be judged, and the relative weight given to each criterion should be clearly identified and enforced, else there is no point to the contest.

Well, my buddy Jay from http://JaysOutdoor.Life and I went to a private 400-Yard location. We shot on a decommissioned section of railroad that used to serve the farmers back in the mid 20th century.
We setup for Jays 175-yard shot (which can be seen HERE) and after that, we pushed the targets back to 200. It took me awhile to get to score a hit as there was a fierce band of storms that passed through but amazingly it only sprinkled a few drops and moved on.
