Yup you can thank the supreme court for that. All online businesses are going to be fequired to collect state taxes. Absolute garbage 

While I feel we are all way OVERTAXED to DEATH. Frankly we have been on a free ride for a while. Matter of fact, you are actually supposed to pay those taxes all of your own good accord after the purchase. But very few do, and there is little the government or the IRS has been able to do about it, till now. 

I guess i wouldnt have a problem with this if i already didnt pay income tax and property tax and gas tax and registration fees and inspection fees and health insurance fees and .... well you all know how it is. This also puts a large burden on the online merchants. Just so frustrating to see more and more of my hard earned dollars buying less and less

I heard about that BS supreme ruling. Does any know if affects all out of state orders. For example if I go to an out of state appliance store buy a refrigerator and as long as it’s being delivered to another state that the appliance store has no presence in there is no sales tax charged . If that is still allowed you could proble just call an out of state business over the phone and order with no tax. Hopefully the new ruling is just for online orders.

Double edge sword here folks. On line purchases are here to stay and may be considered the wave of the future. I hate to see brick and mortor suffering or closing down due to lack of business, but they do have to upgrade and move into the future. Maybe with an on line presence or maybe by trimming costs. Of course that helps kill jobs, thus the double edge sword.

Now we add sales tax to the mix and the multiple problems that go with it. Just in my state alone, there are state and county taxes that vary. Maybe only a fraction of a percentage point, but there still are many differences depending on which location you live in. Maybe a large corporation can come up with a program that addresses this problem, or maybe one will be sold in the near future.

Adding sales tax doesn't help a business' bottom line, it hurts it more than anything.

I question if the S.C. decision as being made more as an arm twist than a legal one, with their arm, the one that was v being twisted.

I bought a new camera yesterday from a local Best Buy which I would normally would not have done, but it was the same price on Amazon and they too charge sales tax so there was reason not to just get it locally. Plus if there is a problem it is much easier to return to a store versus shipping it back and waiting for a credit.

Depends on your state. You could shop around and make sure free shipping and no st.

Yup….free ride IS over. It just really bothers me that if I were in another State and bought something there, I would pay that States tax, not MY States tax. There are huge differences between the two.

Yeah what really sucks is they are charging the highest sales tax in the state ie seattle which is 9.9 %. Where i live its only 8.5 so i get bent twice. Washington states going to rake in the bucks. Or i just wont buy online anymore.

So I live in MT and we have no sales tax. With this new law if I order from CA for example I will be charged the CA sales tax for my purchase?

I dont think so, its whatever state sales tax where you live. Looks like Oregon and Montana are going to be popular delivery places.
