Air Venturi Avenger Walnut Stock

Good morning Banker,

I [used] to golf early in the AM's after I got off 3rd (night) shift which was many moons ago. I rarely get out these days due to retirement taking over my life with other projects. I didn't mean to take over your thread but merely thank you for inspiring me to build my own stock. Its not a project which I have ever tackled before and now I wonder if I really should have because it is taking a LOT more time and work than I anticipated. Yesterday was mostly relegated to hand chisel work excavating the cavity to accept the action. Phew, what a task!!! Were your ears burning?

I have not been taking any video or pictures but I can snap a few along the way. BTW, I'm off to the shop now to create more (black walnut) wood chips which I hope is not too many more ;(

Hey Igolfat8, no worries. The more the merrier. I wish more people would chime in with photos of their projects. That how we all learn and get better. Please post some photos when you can. All the best!

The most time consuming part (for me) was hogging out the cavity for the action. I mostly used a 1” Forster bit and hand chisels. The hole was a tad off for the trigger guard so I had to enlarge it vertically so it looks a bit weird.

Another pleasant surprise is the new wood stock is only 6 ounces heavier than the wood stock. I still have finish to apply in the coming days before it’s read to be mated to the action.

Igolfat8, GREAT WORK! Thanks for sharing. Great to see other folk’s progress. I like my .25 Avenger. I am thinking about doing a one piece wood stock on my Terco duplicarver using the original stock with some added modifications for a template. Probably work on it over Christmas break. I am also making a new barrel band, (clamp style to better capture both air tubes), to replace the original. Thinking about a new PEEK Poppet and a longer lower air tube for more shot count also. Once again, thanks to everyone for sharing ideas.
