Air Venturi Avenger Poppet Factory Upgrade (Finally)

According to Tyler Patner from Pyramyd Air (in a recent post on GTA) factory poppets for the Avenger have recently been upgraded. He posted this particular link for the replacement poppet (should be compatible with most of the guns out of the Nova Vista lineup - Avenger, Aspen/Freedom, Origin, Liberty)

A poster on GTA already received his and posted a pic which shows it is, indeed, made with delrin, However, the replacement poppet did not come with a valve spring. Figured I'd post this, since I've experienced a lot of frustration with my Nova Liberty's and opted not to buy an Avenger until a change was made. Might be time to pull the trigger on one now.

So I wonder if the new wood stock version of the Avenger comes with the upgraded poppet?

Good question. Obviously, they are aware of the problems with the old poppets, so it would be foolish for them to send new guns out without the upgrade. Tyler Patner said the changes were made in the shipment of Avengers that came in around February/March, so maybe those changes carried over to the wood stock versions as well.

I bought a 22 air venturi avenger in June 2021. I had a mild leak when air pressure was around 4000 psi. With alot of shooting and tweaking of regulator and hammer spring settings I am very disappointed with the rifle. The air leak has stopped as near as I can tell but I no longer fill it over 3000 psi. My problem is it shoots 1 hole groups in a shooting session at 25 yards. Poi shifts each time I take it out for a shooting session. Just a little history of what I have tried. I checked all screws for tightness. Tried 3 scopes of quality. Tried different pellets. Crossman premiere hp seem too be just as accurate as jsb 15.89 exacts. Visually inspect pellets before use. Tried single shot tray. Shot with moderator barrel shroud off. Cleaned barrel several times.leave it out in my truck overnight so not much temperature change. Logged all my results for reference. I do not have a chronograph right now. I could send it in for repair but squirrel season is open here in ga and I hate too wait a month or more for a return. I can hunt with it but I literally have too see where the poi is just before the hunt too be able too make adjustments. I have read about problems with the poppet valve and would appreciate any suggestions or ideas too try. Where too purchase aftermarket parts that may remedy my gun. I saw some posts about duy having a replacement if that is even what is wrong with it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. My email is [email protected]. thanks in advance.

Noticed the pellet probe rides just a tad high on the pellet when chambered. Is this normal or could it be causing some of my accuracy problems. It's hard too see in the picture but it is not centered on the pellet.

Hi everyone,

I have an Avenger .22 that I love shooting with, but after fixing a leak in one of the compression tubes, I noticed that there still a leak at the barrel (I've done the balloon test on the naked barrel) so from what I've read it means the poppet needs replacement.

The warranty is no longer valid unfortunately..

So I'm desperately looking for both:

  1. The new (delrin) upgraded poppet. (out of stock but normally available in PA)
  2. A custom made barrelband sold by different webshops in the US (like blackartsdesign.com) but no possibility to deliver it to here (Belgium - Europe)
    [/LIST=1]

Anyone who can help me get to those parts would be my new best friend!!!
