Air tank question for my new kalibur pcp

hey guys
I just bought my first pcp air rifle so tomorrow I’m gonna order a tank .a lot of you guys reccomend the great white from joe and that’s what I’m probably gonna order .but what about the air hog tanks or the tanks that air guns of Arizona sells?money is not a issue because I want quality.

also my neighbor is a fireman so I might be able to fill there or scuba shops since I live on the coast

thanks

I don’t understand why people are still paying so much for an SCBA tank. Do yourself a favor and search EBAY and other sites for a nearly new SCBA tank for less than half of what your about to pay for a new one. If you insist on a brand new tank then I suggest Joe Broncato of Airtanksforsale.com as high pressure air tanks, fittings and compressors are Joe’s expertise.

Here you go. Save yourself a couple of bucks. Tank still good till 2023. Just take to dive shop and get it hydro. Should be about $30. SCBA fill rig in eBay approx. $50. So for $300 you're good to go. Plus if your neighbor is a Fireman then free fills.

The larger tanks like the Great White are fine if you plan on having the scuba shops or paintball stores fill it for you, but if you are going to get a compressor one day I would recommend a smaller tank as it will be easier on your compressor. The longer the compressor runs the more it heats up and heat is not good for your compressor.
I've always stuck with the smaller SCBA 4500 psi 44 cu ft tanks like the fire fighters use in case you can find a fire station to fill them? I do like the Joe Brancato guages though.
I use them on my tanks. I've bought several used tanks with current hydro on them from member Monroe-air right here on AGN.
You could message him. He might be able to hook you up with a nice used tank then all you would need is the SCBA hose assy from Joe Brancato. They are $149 + $14.50 shipped priority mail and insured. Heck Joe probably has some nice smaller tanks?

I got tired of the travel and hassle to get my tank filled, so I contacted a local welding supply and they delivered a huge 6000 psi Nitrogen tank to my house. Costs me about $115 a year to rent it. Then another $164 to fill it. Last me about 8 months. I have 3 of the 44 cu ft 4500 psi SCBA tanks that I keep filled from it and also a guppy tank. I bought the gauges for it from Joe as well. I believe his 6000 psi Nitrogen gauges are $189 + $14.50 shipped priority mail and insured. You would need that for your nitrogen bottle.

Thank you guys

what do you mean by taking to ship and getting hydro ?

I took my 3000 psi SCUBA tank in to the dive shop to have a new seal fitted. While I was there I told the proprietor that I wanted to upgrade to a 4500 psi tank. He pointed to the corner of the room and there sat what looked like a brand new carbon fiber SCBA tank complete with integral gauge in the valve and everything. He told me the tank had expired and that it was mine if I wanted it. I nearly swallowed my gum! It even had 3500 psi of air in it already. I took it home and hooked it up to my $300 Shoebox compressor and in close to an hour and a half I had a full charge. Hooked it up with one of Joe B's fill hoses just like the one in the photos above and topped off all my guns. Honestly, it's like a brand new setup. The cost? about $5 worth of gas to go get it.

I cringe when anyone spends the price of a new gun for a tank. I also cringe when anyone pays the price of several new guns for a compressor. There are plenty of really inexpensive tanks available. My experience is not atypical. Furthermore, used Shoebox compressors can be had for a very reasonable price and they're inexpensive to overhaul and you can do it yourself. Yes, they're slow. But the only ones who can justify any of those expensive compressors are shooting clubs and such. God bless those fortunate individuals who can afford them. But I, and many others, can't. But I can afford 2 Shoebox compressors. Both were used and in good shape. I have one to use, and the other for a quick backup. I'm not looking to upgrade compressors. Recently I came across another cheap carbon fiber tank. I've passed on several others too. And with the hundreds and hundreds I've saved, I bought a near new FX Wildcat and a new scope and rings too!!! I put my meager money where it did the most good; in a top notch GUN. I've got 3 PCP's and one of them is an air hog (.25 cal Condor). I regularly (every day) shoot all three of them. My wife shoots too. I'm having a BLAST! And I'm doin' it CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP.

If you have the money and simply want a new tank, then by all means go for it. But to say that it's not necessary is an understatement. It REALLY is NOT necessary. Your new tank, from whomever you purchase it, won't look or function one whit better than my free one. And lastly, the expired tank that I got for free, and also my other tank, may very well soon be extended to 30 years instead of 15 years. That means I can have them inspected, hydroed, and relicensed. Will I do it? Not likely!

YMMV

Matt
They delivered the first one to me filled. Then when it gets down around 3000 psi, I call them and they come change it out with a fresh one.
Everywhere is different on the prices. Some guys get it way cheaper than I do in other states.
Just google for a local welding supply store or gas supply store in your area and give them a call. I went with Arc3 gases here out of Wilmington NC.
You will most likely have to pay a yearly rental on the tank itself, usually around $100 give or take. Then just pay to have it filled/changed out as needed. I've heard some guys in other states getting theirs filled for as low as $60 bucks? Lucky bastids!!!! LOL

Oh, and Matt....it's Nitrogen.........air is 80% nitrogen so it's perfectly safe. Probably even better than just plain ol' air? LOL

i no u got a lot of info ,i bought a A V compressor first then i got the ebay tanks centercut suggested and valve works great ,,,JOE B guages are best hands down USA made his tank with the dual guages are awesome tells you tank pressure on one then fill pressure on other ,,i dont no if AIR HOG sale has ended yet my second choice ,,one thing rhat you may want to learn is cascading system even though it takes 2 tanks theres a lot to gain hope this helps PAT

"Centercut"I meant manufacture date of the tanks. The charging rig for $42 is good quality. I use one no problem.
Yeah same, 40$ on ebay liquid filled gauge, stainless and thick fittings, hose has a WP of 600BAR and has been flawless. I got my tank from this guy on Ebay for a bit more but it has more time left. Price includes a fresh hydro-test done right before shipping. Under 200 for tank and fill station, I'll just get a compressor before it expires.

"Centercut"Nice. What is the manufacture dates of the ines you buy for $149? Yours looks to be in excellent shape.
So the eBay air line you posted is 42 bucks and he says joes line is 149 bucks ....why the big difference in cost ?
Markup and profit. Probably no difference in materials or quality.
