Air rifle ammo storage

I have now fully made the switch to NSA slugs with my RAW HM1000X .22 and .25 rifles, even though they both shoot pellets just as well under 75 yards.

This weekend’s project was to add a slug storage space to my pellet storage system.

Keep track of what I have by Brand, Style, Weight, Head size for the ones that have them listed, plus they're counted to +/- 50 in each caliber which gets adjusted after every shooting session. I don't have to dig through the shelves to see if I have something, just check the sheets. I didn't know about the Straight Shooters samplers 6 years ago and just bought a couple tins here and there if I wanted to test something and it's added up plus if new pellets hit the market, I buy a couple tins of each to see how well or lousy they may shoot in my rifles.

.177 - 32 kinds
.20 - 10 kinds
.22 - 39 kinds
.25 - 17 kinds

So to bring the original post to full circle, and thanks for all of the reply posts and interest,

  • much of this collection was assembled pre-COVID and supply chain issues
  • with PA and others having quantity breaks to avoid freight charges, when I find a pellet one of my rifles likes, I typically don’t purchase single tins
  • there are now +/- 20 different air guns in my vault that all have succinct pellet preferences that require different pellets to be on hand
  • I own .177, .20, and .22 rifles
  • The majority of my rifles are springers which are more pellet particular than are my pcp rifles
  • over the last year, I have tuned several spring rifles for others requiring a number of different pellets to test and on hand for best performance testing
  • I have two indoor ranges and an outdoor range that allow me to shoot nearly every day, in any weather, and at any time day or night, so I do go through some ammo each year

So, contrary to what it may first appear, this is not a “hoarder’s stash.”

I like to pick mine up on sale, so when PA or another vendor runs a 10% off and free shipping, I'll stock up. While it may appear as a hoarders stash, it'll get shot eventually. I'm a little short on .25, but probably have enough to get through the shortage, at least I hope I do.

Still we complain, but H&N is available at the moment. Only JSB and derivatives seem to be in short supply

I dont have enough ammo to warrant such a nice but elaborate setup, so for now my boxes and tins are just stacked on my table beside the computer case.

I have been contemplating making a go "bag" or two as i have 2 small ALU cases that once housed HID flashlights, so my plan is to get some foam, and make it so they can hold a box / tin or two of the favorite things my Maverick like to shoot,,,,,, that is when i get my maverick and figure out what it like.

Maybe do the one case for pellets and the other for slugs even if for slugs in .177 the choice are pretty limited.

Planing on marking the cases " Pano ammo P " and " Pano ammo S "

Can you guess what movie i got the phrase " pano ammo " from ? it is not related to shooting at all, it is uttered by a American Girl trapped in Europe with her family, and she is terrible lovesick and want to go home to the US :)

I have not been out shooting much lately so the stash has grown accordingly. I usually shoot ten or twelve tins a month so not doing so the tins add up pretty fast when I can find the pellets.

A couple of the opened JSB tins are full and a few more are half but most are less than a quarter full of sorted pellets of different weights.

i spy mk2 writing... i know where u got those tins from lol
