Air Pistol

Hello, I recently got into airgun hunting and plinking! I have just bought a Gamo Whisper G2 from Pyramid Air, and now I would like a "plinking pistol". I have been looking at the Tanfoglio witness 1911 ( Any other pistol will work) , and the Crosman Vigilante (Or any other revolver). I would like some good suggestions and here are the guide lines
  • Full metal
  • CO2
  • Make pros and cons for every pistol please!
Thank you for your suggestions, they will help me and I hope it will help other people!

Some other things to consider: Do you want a rifled barrel, blow back (to mimic the recoil of a fire arm), revolver or pistol, bb or pellet? Some of the revolvers are pretty cool. They have bullet like cartridges that you put a bb or pellet in such as the Dan Wesson revolver. I would say first figure out if you want a revolver or a pistol and then go through the PA web site and see which one suits your taste. Have fun!

I am not an expert on air pistols. My sole reason to have air pistols is to shoot NRA air pistol silhouette. Have an IZH, a P-3, and a Crosman 1701. All are good for what I do. If you want a reasonably good CO2 gun go the Crosman custom shop and have them build a 2300 for you. Many of the guys I shoot with beat me regularly with those Crosman CO2 guns.
You also will find that generally speaking air pistols are not very powerful which eliminates hunting as an option. Around 400 pfs is all you need for plinking (or silhouette). There are some higher power guns but not CO2. They are pcp like the Crosman maurader pistol.
Good luck and have fun.

"outdoorman4"You might want to check out the Crosman 2240. Nice CO2, nice single shot pistol. Numerous mods for it. Sells on Amazon for about $65.00.
I got a 2240 a couple of weeks ago and am liking it. It shoots well, and a s pretty easy on CO2- I get 50 shots or so from a cartridge.

It reminds me of a solid 1950s airgun. I guess in a way it is, since it's based on a model from years and years ago.

As he said, its easily modified. Parts are all over. If you don't like it as it comes, just make it into whatever you want. A search on 2240 custom parts was enlightening for me.
I'm now thinking of ordering another to make into a short carbine.

I got mine from Pyramyd Air, and I think it listed for $59.95, but you can get 10% off codes all the time by accepting their emails.

Or, you can have the Crosman Custom Shop make you one as you like. I hear it takes right about three weeks. The price isn't bad at all considering the cost, time, and trouble of doing it on your own and having extras left over.

I recently bought two pistols. The benjamin trail- NP (break-barrel) and the crossman vigilante (co2) and I wasn't impressed. They are my first two pistols. I Guess I was expecting a little more power. Both are horribly inaccurate for the first few hundred shots but now the benejamin trail puts pellets where I want em and with more power oddly. during break in it wouldnt even punch through a soda can, now it punches through tin cans. The vigilante has improved but it's still got a wide grouping. It does make up for that with the plus points of: It's light enough for my wife to use, its a repeater and and its not almost 2 feet long! :p
