Air gun scope

I just bought a Benjamin Charger air rifle, the Center Point scope it came with is NOT CLEAR ,to the point I can't sight it in. After reading what people said I went to Walmart and bought a Center Point 4-14-40 scope, bring it home and tried to mount it but weaver mounts way to big, so I took mounts off original scope 1" and mounted scope, no good front adjustment on scope rests on barrel ? I went to a gun shops to buy higher mounts but they didn't have them, they told me to make sure the scope I buy is made for an air gun because an air gun RECOILS the opposite as a regular rifle, and even if I bought a good Leoupold it would break ?? They recommmend a scope with not so big of front end, like a 3x9, so now I have an air rifle With no sights, what company will I have to contact to get an AIR RIFLE SCOPE ? PS when I went back to Walmart and ask the man for a scope for an air rifle he showed me tiny little scope, no way !

Here's a little help. On your original scope there is an adjustable eye piece on the rear of your scope. Try moving that to clear up your view, secondly you need a dovetail mount, these are 30MM, or one inch. these are not readily available at the big box stores in my neighborhood. Your original scope might work for you. if that does not help call Pyramid Air, you usually receive your order in under three days

Yes Pyramid Air is a great resource. You will most likely have to do most all of you air gun shopping on line. Most local stores just carry the lowest end cheap stuff. There is a whole world of high end air guns that lives almost exclusively on the web that most people don't even know exists. Pyramid Air (PA) is also the best place to buy pellets most of the time. Lowest prices if you use their 4 for 3 tins deal. They also package them very well for the least damage. Pellets are very easily damaged in shipping if they get slammed around or dropped. There are other excellent dealers as well. Check out the advertisers on this site. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask around here for help.

if your rifle is equipped with 11mm dovetail and scope has Weaver style rings you can attach scope using a Weaver to dovetail adapter manufactured by either Hawke or UTG - look up adapters on Pyramyd Air web page. The Hawke product attaches to the dovetail while the UTG product slips into the Weaver rings.

Check this post. There are links for scope mounts that you might want to check out. Consistent repeatable accuracy with my NP rifles was the impossible dream until I discovered these mounting solutions. The big Centerpoint claims to be "airgun recoil rated," so really a way to properly mount it should be all you really need. That said, I have the CP scope you bought. It had a little trouble holding zero on my springers, but you may have better luck with it. Best of luck!

I like the UTG scope rings on the low price point range. You can get them with four screws to hold the upper and lower ring together and two screws per ring to grip the gun. They come with some type of grip aid tape on the inside. Be sure to use medium strength thread locker and do not over tighten the screws. Be sure to order the correct inside diameter. They come in 1 inch and 30mm. 1 inch is approximately 25mm.

Decided not to wait on scope, called Pyramid Air and ordered a Leapers UTG 3x9 x40 hunters scope , a butt load of Crossman Premier Dome 177 in 10.5 grain, a cleaning kit, with the 4th of July sale I did very well, everything came within 2 days very well packed ! Cleaned the rifle , mounted the scope , shot 20 pellets than proceded to zero it in ,finally got it to within an inch at 30 yards, ran a patch thru with oil, shots not as good now, but my arm getting tired after 100 shots, a lot had to do with me, trigger seems to pull a long ways, love the scope !

"...ran a patch through with oil..." Try to avoid using petroleum based oils and solvents in your airgun, you don't need 'em. While not a bad idea to use bore solvent on a new Crosman barrel (because they are ALWAYS filthy!), you should avoid getting it on the seals, and always chase it with something like Simple Green to remove the oil. Dry patches or q-tips will usually do it (at least in .177). Strong move on the UTG scope. I use them too, and they are great for the money. Also, it will usually take a LOT of shots (couple hundred plus) to get a new Crosman to settle down and get consistent. Lastly, there are several solutions for the Crosman trigger, just look on you tube, but proceed with caution. They are easy to modify, but they are also easy to make "dangerously light" (meaning unsafe, really). Best of luck with your new gun!

Charger is pretty new, but most (if not all) of the old Np's had a hole drilled in the top of the receiver for a "stop pin," which threads down through the rear scope ring, and helps keep the scope from walking due to recoil. Does your gun have that? Also, check your rings for the stop screw. A lot of Crosman stock rings are not stop screw equipped (at least, none of the ones my rifles came with were). My scopes didn't stop moving until I added one of the dove tail to weaver mounts or one piece mount to the rifle. The UTG dovetail to weaver mount has 10 degrees of droop compensation, stop screws built in, and would utilize the UTG weaver rings you already have. You have to grind on the rear of the mount a bit to allow it to mount back far enough for the stop screw, but it eliminates scope walk.

Those package scopes are worth about $10, and I'm not surprised you aren't happy with it. I bought a Center Point 4-16x40 from Wal Mart for $70 for my old Gamo springer. I was very surprised. It made the tired old gun 3x more accurate. I bought a UTG 11mm to Weaver drooper adapter, and use the Weaver mounts that came with the scope.I guess I've fired 2000 shots, and all is well. The scope is surprisingly clear, nice crisp mil dot reticle. Has just a little bit of chromatic aberration, which is tolerable. I wasn't about to spend more for a scope than I spent for the gun. I nominate my CenterPoint as the best 16X AO scope you can buy for under $70. :)
