Air Arms S510 carbine vs Gamo Urban comparison

I have both the AA S510 FAC Carbine and the Gamo Urban, both in 22cal. Hopefully I won’t irritate the entrenched enthusiasts in either camp, so here’s my comparison:
Ergonomics: S510 wins this, but barely, it’s 2” shorter at 38” and has a bit better balance. The Urban shoulders nicely and is quite pointable. They both weigh 7.5 pounds scoped.
Trigger: S510 wins here, a light crisp break that is as good as my other higher end rifles. The Urban has a good field trigger, predictable, but a bit of 2nd stage mush.
Appearance: S510 wins again. The S510 has beautiful bluing and a very attractive beech stock. Nothing wrong with the Urban, it’s typical tactical styling that dominates design these days. The textured plastic grips nicely at the forend.
Shot count: S510 again 40+ high power shots from the S510, more like 30 from the Urban.
Power: S510 wins in power, adjustable and slightly over 30 fpe. The Urban is doing about 22-24fpe.
Noise/sound: Urban is quite a bit quieter due to a large LDC from the factory. The S510 carbine barks a bit on high power level, and wife upstairs doesn’t like it. I dial it down a bit and that helps, or if I’m shooting a bunch, I put on the Clauge, but then it is no longer a carbine, and that added cost.
Accuracy: This is a bit of a tie, but needs more research. Out to 25 yards, they both are very accurate. I think the S510 would be better at longer distance like 50+ yards due to the higher velocity and better trigger.
Cocking: S510 side lever is smoother and easier than the hard bolt action on the Urban.
Safety: Urban safety is better. The S510 safety is on the trigger and doesn’t seem all that safe!
Ease of filling: Urban wins here, especially for hand pumpers. The small tank would be easy to fill. Neither have a Fosters so you are stuck with proprietary probes.
Magazines: S510 is a bit better because it’s $10 cheaper and has no internal springs.
Pressure gauge: Urban is better because it’s color coded, and I can’t see the S510 gauge unless I have on my bifocals.
Scope rail: Urban has a continuous rail that is better than the S510.
Cost: A big win for the Urban at sub $400 vs $1099 for the S510.
Value: This is more difficult I find great value in both.
If you like this comparison, I’ll do another in a couple weeks.

"OldCorps"Enjoyed your comparison review but like others have whined apples vs. oranges due to price. I almost bought an Urban but didn't because of the price of spare magazines-$50 a pop.

it's definitely apples and oranges. I got the S510 in 2013, and the Urban was a recent spur of the moment. I had budgeted for around $1500, but saved enough to get a Hawke scope and a Henry pump that wore me out today.

I'm keeping the Urban. The handling and pointability along with low noise and accuracy are all great. It handles like a rimfire
