Air Arms Galahad Mag indexing

I went ahead and purchased an Air Arms Galahad. I knew about Indexing issues but reviews from the pros said nothing so I bit the pellet.

Right off the bat it had issues indexing pellets. The mag will not turn in order to get to next pellet. This is a great gun but I can't accept a gun in this price range to have an issue like this.

Before I send it back, does anybody know a a quick fix for this. Darn, I wanted this gun so bad and now this.. Go figure.

Sometimes by just loosening the screw or screws just a smidge on the multi shot magazines in general helps.

In your case, if it uses the same magazines as the 510s/410s etc then the typical problem may be due to the

spring and or ball bearing in the magazine causing it to not index properly. It may be a common issue with AA.

I am not sure if aftermarket magazines are still available but you shouldn't need to have to buy them.

IMHO I would just send it back and get a refund. There are better choices out there for the money.

If you paid full price for your AA then I feel your pain. An FX Wildcat with a Huma regulator or a Taipan Veteran

with nothing needing to be done to it would be my replacement choice IMHO.

Closer to your price range, the Kaliburgun Cricket also can't be beat and nothing needing to be done but not

recommended if you are using a hand pump.

A used Gallahad just renently sold for $700 on the classifieds as a package deal FYI.

The seller had it listed earlier on this year and when I checked it was for $700 but only recently sold it

only a few days ago.

One of my buddy's had an issue with the 'clear' face of the magazine cracking. Had the one that came with the gun, bought two more and they cracked right away. This produced your same issue with the magazine not advancing. He contacted the supplier and was sent two new magazines right away. No issues since. Look closely at the face and make sure it's not cracked and aligned all around. And the suggestion to check the screw is a great one.

My friend loves the rifle other than that issue, but runnin fine since. It's a .22 by the way.

If the Galahad uses the same mechanism as the S510 to advance the magazine, it may be a problem with the indexer post. The brass flat spring that engages the grooves around the perimeter of the magazine is prone to failure that prevents mag rotation. I have no experience with the Galahad, but I have run into the index post in my S510 FAC. The replacement part is available from PA and others for around 12 - 15 USD.

Thank You to all that responded, As mentioned I really like this gun and did not buy on impulse. I have many many air guns and thought this would be nice as a addition. I got a good price and decided to jump . If the mag is having issues on first few shots it is bound to have issues later, so off it goes to the dealer for a refund. I really don't want to but oh well. Thanks again to all, I do appreciate it.
