AGN Uragán🌪

Awesome shooting today Derrick; congrats! Soon as I saw what you did to the 90 yard turkeys (the size of a quarter) I knew my equipment was suckin' air. Then when you destroyed the 100 yard rams I got this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that my my stuff is obsolete! Or else my age is catching up to me.

NAW!!!

That can’t be the case; we both know you and your equipment hold the current airgun class record of 33 of 40. It’s time to push that limit though. I want to see the rimfires get concerned 😁

Congrats Derrick ! ready to sell it LOL

😁 You know to experience (tune/improve and gain knowledge) what all is out there, I must move guns as I don’t have the means nor resources to pile them up.

With that said, the Uragán first, fits me very well, and also has the attributes and precision that has earned it a keeper spot in my stable. It’s very versatile; bench or offhand, she’s ready to rock!

The Airgun Technology Uragán is as similar to the Kalibrgun Colibri & the newer version, Capybara, as the Vulcan is to the Cricket.

There is actually a lot of differences; the magazines are way different. Vulcan/Uragán mags are self-indexing where as the Kalibrgun system is more complex with the gun rotating the mags. The Kalibrgun Capybara, from what I understand, is only offered in .22. Uragán has more power on tap. The Colibri/Capybara platform has always been developed with a mindset to advance the system to semi-auto capable. The Uragán has no such ambitions to be semi-auto. This Kalibrgun system has stalled and been delayed in availability. They are still not currently available stateside.

Don’t get me wrong, I truly respect the quality and accolades of Kalibrgun. I currently own a .22 Cricket & .25 Cricket pups as well as a .22 Mini Carbine. I’d love to have a Capybara...............I suppose one day.

Wow I did not know about long range Air Rifle Silhouette Competitions? My club (that I have not visited in awhile) does not have any type of Silhouette Competitions, just FT and 25M BR. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Also did not know Uragan was Hurricane in Slavic, but makes sense over the Russian Rocket Launcher :)

My only nitpick with my compact is the Magazine, but my only other PCP experience came from a HW100.

I really like my compact and would consider purchasing a full length, just unsure what caliber I want.

@Str8tshooter, here is a explanation of this long range game. It’s very fun and challenging:

Rimfire and high-power airgun Bench-Rest Silhouette competitions are held the first Saturday of each month, from February to October, at the Central Texas Rifle & Pistol Club near China Spring, Texas (just West of Waco). The matches start at 9 AM; shooters should try to arrive by about 8:30. Non-club-members are welcome; the gate will be open for the match.

Rimfires are limited to .22 Long Rifle. No HYPER velocity loads allowed (high- velocity is okay). Airguns are limited to 100 foot-pounds, no larger than .30 caliber, and lead PELLETS only.

Scopes must be set to no higher than 16X in the match. Scopes without a 16X factory marking must be set to the next lower factory marking.

All shooting is from concrete bench-rests. A simple sandbag is allowed under the fore-end; only the shooter’s off hand is allowed under the butt-stock. No kind of mechanical rests, bi-pods/tripods, or remote triggers are allowed.

Targets are 1/10 scale, regulation airgun-sized silhouettes. There will be silhouette swingers at each distance for sighting shots.

Matches are 40 shots- 10 shots each at 60 yard chickens, 75 yard pigs, 90 yard turkeys, and 100 yard rams. Steel backing plates behind the silhouettes show the misses.

At a start signal, shooters have 10 minutes to complete the relay (4 relays in all). Shooters can take unlimited sighting shots at silhouette swingers, AND THEN one shot at each animal for record. Once the competitor indicates to his spotter/scorer that they are shooting for record, no more sighter shots can be taken. Targets must be taken in order starting at bottom left moving right then top left moving right.

There will be wind flags at the range. No other wind flags are allowed. Rimfire repeaters must be singly-loaded in this competition. Match entry fee is $10 per gun. Competitors may shoot both divisions.

This is a very fun and challenging competition; especially for airguns. As the range has a reputation for challenging winds, airguns of at least .22 caliber and 30+ foot-pounds are recommended (though not required).
Match Winner and Ten-In-A-Row pins are awarded in both the Rimfire and Airgun divisions.

Thanks for the explanation. I thought for a while there that the airguns were competing against the rimfires so not allowing slugs made absolutely no sense. Now I see each to his own division, so pellets only seems fair, but slug use should be petitioned at the club. Probably they are against that as once that is allowed, the airguns will be outperforming the rimfires. You have already narrowed the gap to just a few points as it is with pellets... ;)

Woo-Hoo!!!

Now I'm excited! Not only am I very interested in the new Ag here, but I've been kinda down as there is nothing for AirGunners here. Nada, zip, all alone. Now this news. I live only about 50 miles away south of you on 84.

I shoot nothing but slugs and pellets I cast myself. I've been shooting slugs for a lot of years now. I can understand no slugs, as a good AG shooting slugs would clean the rim fires plow. I can get 1/2" at 100 yards with the Talon/Dor in .257 and have a Rainstorm with .172, .223, .250 and .257 barrels. Would love to compete with the long rifle crowd. I need to make a trip up there to see the action and after all these years, meat a few ag people face to face. ;<)

A huge congrats on winning with such a fine looking AG. Loved the look at the first showing at the show in Germany.

Knife

We would love to have you, Knife. This was the last competition for this year. We start back up in February. It is a good bunch of guys that shoot this match. It’s a whole lot of fun.

The course has been cleared on, I believe, 3 occasion (perfect 40 of 40 score). All by rimfire shooters. The current record for an airgun is 33 of 40.

For any that are interested, please come. I’d love to see more airgunners at the match.

Thanks for the information, that sounds really challenging I have the 1/10 Scale Silhouettes but not the room to stretch out to those distances, Chickens at 60 yards with only using 16X is damn impressive.

The Turkeys 🦃 at 90 yards are actually the most challenging. I was doing well and could have gotten the airgun record......You know, should’ve, would’ve, could’ve (talk is cheap 😁) IF I wouldn’t have let 3 Chickens 🐓 off the hook.

I just need to direct some anger toward those silhouette animals. I seemed to perform best when I’m a bit ticked off 😆
