AGN to cluttered

I am not trying to be a wise a$$ or anything but perhaps you need to dump your cache or check for open programs running in the backround or maybe your device has a built-in slow down mode, like Apple used, to get people to upgrade. I use this site mostly on a android tv box, not a computer or even a high end phone (which are actually faster) and it works really well. I don't even have load times. We'll see what others say, but I think the problem could be at your end and it is most likely software bloat and not even your older equipment.

If you spend a good amount of time on here you will have noticed a re-occurring theme lately regarding this same subject.

I use an iPone mostly to browse on here, and not extremely computer savvy, as I suspect a good amount of folk aren’t either. I don’t know much about clearing caches on iPhones or the like. Not likely to switch to Android either. So, I will either live with it or not visit much.

But, it’s pretty annoying and confusing, and would be nice if it was better. I don’t mind the Adverts, as the site a) isn’t mine, b) has to function. But, it’s not very pleasant as it was before.

The site that I have trouble navigating in is the GTA site. I have been a member there for over 4 yrs and have only posted once. That's because I can't figure out the structure of the site and get frustrated with it and just go away. That is not my phone, it is just an old man that has only started to use the internet within the last 4 yrs.. If I could just do an update on my brain I would be in great shape!

Amen to this! Same here regarding GTA. Not very user friendly at all. Also got a thread locked for giving negative feedback to a seller that happens to be a contributor there.

So from reading other peoples complaints it sounds to me like this is an iphone incapability issue. I’m using an iPhone 6s. And what I experience is the home page background flashing. The affects of slow loading, I go to click on a forum an at that very second the whole screen jumps/flashes and I inadvertently click on something else. But this only happens on the home screen. I see no issues once I’m on a specific thread.

I also think GTA is not a very user friendly format. Too bad because it seems to have lots of good info.

I dont seem to have any issues with loading times. I would look at your connection speeds as well as the mentioned above. Background programs and a loaded cache. Other things to consider is how much ram you have being wasted. Again this could be eaten up by background programs. With that said. Even with clearing out your cache and shutting down background programs the performance difference may not even be noticeable. But on the other side it might help just a bit. To me is sounds like a real connection speed thing. I have been building High end gaming rigs for near 24 years now so I would like to think I have a bit of knowledge with this. Another option would be to crank up your virtual memory. This can help with the added strain of background programs running. Only do this if your system has the space on the hard drive. In most cases you want 2 times the amount of virtual to psychical. So if your running 16gig psychical then run 32 virtual. Often times allowing the operating system manage the amount leads to far to little. Now if you are running a large amount of psychical ram you can get away with no virtual memory at all. Just do a web search on you operating system and it will show you how to manage it. Another thing to consider is that your internet provider it doing work to the lines/system causing speed issues. Happened to me and still is going on now and then in my area. Also you might notice the load times may be greater at certain times of the day. Depending on your area and how many internet users are streaming, playing games, or watching pic this could cause an overall drop in speeds within a few blocks effecting everyone in the area. Really there are several factors that could cause the issue and if you computer is rather old it may be the issue but if its also an issue on your tablet then it could be a issue that is beyond your reach other then getting a higher tear of internet speed. Another thing to look at is your modem and router as well. Ok Ill stop here. I could go on and on, but I wont.

Before you gripe about the site, let me ask a few questions...

When did you last support the site with a purchase of merchandise?

When did you last donate to the site?

It costs a lot of money to keep a site going and growing. Advertiser revenue is hard to come by and net traffick is fickle. The site has to keep moving forward or it is doomed to die. We get to come here to hang out and chat about our passions. Lucky us. Try not to complain

I'm in the same boat this forum is alot friendlier but I hate seeing the 404 error when I send a p.m. probably my fault still trying to figure out this contraption

It's slower for me also . I live in an area with slow internet speed and very poor phone signals. The extra graphics slow what I can do also . I'll try and click on something and the screen will shift slightly and it goes to wrong page .

It does it mainly on my Android phone.

As for GTA I gave up a long time ago. After trying to navigate the dozens of "gates" I just gave it up . Probably some good folks there ....But the site is so outta date it's no fun .

I know Michael is constantly making improvements on the site . And it gets better all the time . For me it's just poor signal .

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Speed, efficiency, & a seamless UI is of the utmost importance.

The new thumbnail boxes are designed to be a direct Newsfeed to the Industry & our Trending Topics. Many of the most popular sites on the internet either have a dedicated landing page for the latest News, or incorporate it into their main page. We're focusing on the latter.

AGN's viewers are almost split 50/50 desktop/mobile. As many of you know one of the biggest challenges when designing a site is mirroring the full size feature rich UI of a desktop onto a tiny mobile device. We're constantly doing our best to make it the most enjoyable place for everyone.

Regardless of what type of device you use, or how fast or slow your internet is, loading speed is an essential part of navigation.

My wife and I both use Android phones and a combination of Mac and PC computers. I am unable to duplicate flashing or loading problems on any of our devices (neither can our developers). However, my mom came over to visit and she uses an older iPhone. I navigated to our site and sure enough I experienced a bit of latency when loading the homepage. I proceeded to close the browser to open a new one and noticed that she had 174 browsers open! I closed all of them, rebooted her phone, and haven't experienced any latency since. I'm sure this isn't the case for all of you, but it may help some of ya.

Our site does use some advanced caching features. So you shouldn't have to "clear your cache". Though, if you know how to, it couldn't hurt.

If you are experiencing problems, please send me a PM describing in as much detail; the device you use, the internet connection type, and the problem you're experiencing.

AGN is dedicated to always improving our site. Each month a large portion of income from our sponsors is recycled into bettering your experience here. Thanks for you're feedback, I look forward to hearing from you.

You are smooth! A true professional. You are doing a great job. Thanks for looking out for us. I love this place.

I spend a tremendous amount of (probably too much) time on this site, logging in several times each day. Rarely any issues of any kind. I find the site to be well monitored, constructed, and extremely useful.

I am grateful that it exists and very much appreciate the efforts by others for those of us in the Airgun community to use, to learn, to communicate, and to enjoy.
