Hey everyone! Steve just started reviewing the AirMaks CAiMAN X and I just happen to have the AirMaks CAiMAN in house. So I thought it would be neat if we did a little comparison between the two models. This should be fun!

Both of our Caiman's came from Utah Airguns. Thanks UA! 👏

Both models have some really nice features such as a two piece stock that encapsulates the entire action

An OEM stackable baffle set. The baffles do a decent job, but there's lots of room for improvement 💭

So far Steve and I agree that the AirMaks CAiMAN is a welcome addition to the airgun world!

Stay tuned for pellet culling and shot strings!

Is it silent as it comes out of the box?

I wouldn’t feel comfortable shooting the compact model without a moderator.

Here's what Steve had to say about the CAiMAN X "the Caiman X's OEM moderator actually works well to squash the 31 fpe this .22 is making outta da box... but there's also room for significant improvement. I ran all 3 of these .25 Donnys at 31 fpe and the bigger the moderator got, the quieter the Caiman got. I'm goin' with the Ronin on this one. Looks good, makes 31 fpe stupid-quiet and settles the gun down nicely ".

Most know how jittery cats are...

I have two, that just sit there, one about 3ft. and the other about 6ft. away when I shoot my Caiman. Normally, they don't even wake up ! Some other guns, they give me a dirty look, then get up and go into the bedroom. So, yeah, really not that loud. You want loud...try shooting one without...the factory silencer..!

I will just say that it kills me, when designing new guns from the ground up, new sheet of paper, to design different magazines for their two models, of the same caliber. I was really warming up to the Caiman X and then I saw that in .22 it only has a 10 shot magazine, whereas their Katran in .22 has a 16 shot. This choice to have two production lines for the same caliber, in a really small new company, just doesn't make any sense to me. Of course I had read about the Katran first and I thought, wow, now that is a contender, and it has a decent shot count magazine. Then, liking bullpups, I start reading about the Caiman X and really like it and then they show the 10 round magazine and I'm like. seriously? I really don't think that it's not a big deal either. Obviously FX agrees with me as their Wildcat shot count doubled going to the MkIII. I will wait for more reviews on the stoutness of the Katran's shroud, but it is looking pretty good to me. JMO
