Hi everyone, you read that right!  Steve and I are doing a little Share n' Compare of the AirMaks Katran Compact bottle gun vs Compact tube gun… and then we'll be hosting an RDW event where 1 lucky person will win a killer package from Utah Airguns, AirMaks Arms, Hawke Optics, Sportsmatch mounts, JSB, H&N, Patchworm, and DonnyFL!!

The Katran C (compact tube) and the Katran CB (compact bottle) both measure in at 30.5'' without a moderator.  The most obvious difference is the tube gun holds 165cc's of air, while the bottle gun holds 300cc's of air.

Steve has been busy as a bee doing shot charts with various weight pellets.  I've only had the opportunity to chrony the 15.9g pellets, but I just received some 14.3g pellets to try as well.

My Katran C came to me tuned at 20 FPE, while Steve's Katran CB came tuned at 24-25 FPE.  Make note how I was able to get 48 shots out of 165cc tube, while Steve got 43-45 shots out of 300cc bottle.  Just goes to show how much more air is needed to push pellets just 5 FPE more!

I've done a bit of accuracy testing and I plan to do more.

AEAC's vlog should come out soon followed by some accuracy testing as well.

To make a long story short (like the Katran Compact's) these are lightweight, well-built, thoughtfully designed, compact PCP airguns!

    What do you think?

What and when is RDW event??

    HI Bertman

RDW stands for Review-Discuss-Win.  It's where AEAC does a full video review, AGN hosts the videos, pictures, and discussion, and then we hold a lottery based drawing to give it all away.

You can view previous events here https://www.airgunnation.com/forum/monthly-airgun-giveaways-members-only/review-discuss-win/?view=all

The giveaway part happens once the full video review drops (in a week or so) then you'll have 10 days to enter.

    A point of note ;-),

The bottle version allows a variety of air reservoir to be used.

Hard to tell from the angle of the photo, with the suppressor attached, Steve's gun may even allow one of those new fangled 700cc items.

THINK OF THE SHOT COUNT WITH THAT BIG BOY, at 25fpe or more.

My buddy just bought one of these last week, it showed up today so we shot it a little bit after work. I’m impressed! It feels very well built, was light but sturdy, accurate and a blast to shoot.

I've been keeping an eye on the compact tube version of this gun. I really like the idea of a lightweight folding gun with an adjustable cheek rest. Seems like it could be a very versatile platform.

If the tube version can get 50 shots at 772 avg, tuned down even further to 650-700 fps, it would make a perfect barn ratter or roosted starling killer all night long! I’m in!

Those both look really nice. Shot count per fill is what I like. Amazing it uses 2x the air! Black one looks better to me.
